I'm testing a new server for my MP3s. I've been going on the cheap it's difficult to get good service if you're not paying for it. Still avoiding paying but hoping this new place will be better. Either way, it's free for you so ignore my troubles and read on.... -Art In Manila is the new project from Orenda Fink (Azure Ray) and so far it sounds pretty good. The lush, hushed arrangements of Azure Ray , who packed it in back in 2004, don't really permeate this stuff but Orenda's voice is [...]

A song to soothe the summertime blues on a warm summer night as you chug down a bottle of your favorite beer, as you look over at the ominous cityscape over your backyard porch while you listen to this song on your ipod shuffle...yep...good times. I'm actually diggin' this song. Hope you enjoy it as well. From their album "Fantastic Hawk": mp3: Bottom of the Hudson- "Beehive" official site: Bottom of [...]

I once knew a guy who loved Bruce Willis' near career-killer Hudson Hawk unabashedly and unironically. This is apropos of nothing, save for the fact that the third album from Brooklyn's Bottom Of The Hudson - in stores yesterday - is called Fantastic Hawk and it, thankfully, features no guest appearances of Bruce Willis or Danny Aiello singing Paul Anka tunes. What it does feature is thirteen songs that touch on a wide breadth of styles yet feel like a single, cohesive [...]

I don't really know what to say about this band, Bottom of the Hudson just speak to me. Thy music is not too complex, not too simple. The melody are there and the production is OK. It's the perfect music for a gloomy Sunday. nervous guitar in the background that doesn't destroy the mood and then let the room available for a calm break with violin and something that sounds as an accordion. They will release an album called Fantastic Hawk on the excellent Absolutely Kosher record on the July the 17th. [...]

Bottom of the Hudson's Fantastic Hawk comes out on July 17th on Absolutely Kosher Records. Although Bottom of the Hudson has been a project of Eli Simon's for a while, Fantastic Hawk will actually be the first album for the Philly quartet. Bottom of the Hudson is often compared to Guided By Voices . While there are some similiarities in terms of nice build ups and strong chorusus, BOTH is a lot less british sounding than GBV. Although, the song Suffering Time with its' great hooks, [...]

Have no time for blogging.... however Team Clermont sent me the mp3 link to a great song from one of my favorite bands. I listened to this record for a few weeks straight in my car, in LA that equates to many, many hours of listening... Bottom of the Hudson - Handwriting

Sharing a home with The Wrens, Xiu Xiu, and Pinback (Absolutely Kosher Records) must be tough on Bottom of the Hudson. Their debut, "The Omaha Record" was released back in 2003, and their follow up EP, "Holiday Machine" in 2005. But did you hear of them? Unfortunately not. For the uninformed, Bottom of the Hudson is a 5 piece that draws their primary influences from GBV, Pavement, and Yo La Tengo, classily mixing 60's pop/rock with indie rock. Although I've posted a picture of the "Holiday Machine EP" above, the following tracks are from their [...]
It seems pretty appropriate that Bottom Of The Hudson and the Wrens should share the same record label (Absolutely Kosher). Both purvey a classy take on indie rock like their brethren Guided By Voices and Yo La Tengo. So a cursory listen to ‘Riot Act’ is probably not enough to soak up its multi-faceted glory. Eli Simon’s vocals have an authoritative bent and the music is never content to settle
