Words By Jason Hortillas Most agreed that the Pacquiao/Hatton fight was going to be a battle. Unfortunately for Ricky Hatton, the battle was in the hands of the other guy. Can I call Pac-Man "Canibus" now after his skilled "2nd Round Knockout?" When Hatton hit the canvas he remained motionless and for a couple of minutes I thought he was dead. Literally. As the medical staff turned his head slowly [...]
Just watched this... crazy fight! Two rounds...! Ricky was knocked down twice in the first round and didnt seem to recover. Hatton did what he usually does and goes in full steam ahead, but this is Pacman your talking about! Not some British amateur just turned professional. Pac obviously worked on his left hook and it dam showed...! Is this the end for Hatton? We think so. If not he has to turn that power into technique.... which you thought he would of done having the apparent worlds best boxing coach? hummm... but what a crazy fight, even if it was only two [...]

(Side note: I hate pets, and I'd usually rant about how I'd drop kick a puppy of this size. But who could say no to this dog?) Anyway this week has been really busy and I neglected my page. The upcoming week is going to be even worse but things should straighten out after that. In the meantime I have to figure out how I'm gonna study for my finals, watch Game 7 between the Bulls and the Celtics, and watch the Pacquiao/Hatton fight. Yeah, I don't think that's gonna end up well. Oh yeah, Paul Pierce will [...]

Tonight's tune is coming much later than expected. This is thanks to a buddy of mine, who came back from the dead to take me out for a beer (read: 6 beers) after work today. Orange Marmalade comes from Mellowdrone 's debut full-length album Box , released in 2006. Based out of Los Angeles, the indie-rock/lo-fi band has released 4 EPs and 2 full-length albums since forming in 1999. Tell me that you love me lady one more [...]

I've got another track tonight from the Canadian indie-rock band Tokyo Police Club . After getting hooked on the band's first full-length album Elephant Shell , I started digging into some of their older stuff. Box comes from the band's second EP Smith EP , a 4-track extended play released in October of 2007. Though critics were disappointed that the release wasn't the band's long-awaited first LP, they universally approved of the music. On a side note, the EP marks another successful notch in the belt of the Canadian indie label Paper Bag Records [...]
Level is a new artist from Baton Rouge. Never heard his shit before but I'm feeling this track a lot. Jody Breeze sample on the hook. Props to dopemusik for sending this over. (In Picture: Level, Savage, Nussie) Level Ft. Box - Hustle Everyday (DIRTY/CDQ/NO DJ)

Not STRICTLY a cover but a good opportunity to post this Velvet Underground picture! The track consists of John Cale's reading of 'The Gift' being recited over a slow, grinding electronic backing. Well worth a listen. Jack Of Swords - The Box Thanks to Ripped in Glasgow .

TOTALLY RED HOT! - I am delighted to share the news that Kicks , t he brand new album from The 1990s is due for release March 23 in Europe & March 24 in North America . The band has been bathed in the sunlight of some fairly complimentary press the last few months following the release of their debut album, Cookie . And based on what we are hearing, [...]

What happens when a UK band from the 2000's takes 70's and 80's punk and makes it just as cool and fresh as ever? The 1990s, that's what. These Glasgow boys sing about Mongolian Warlords, Bears, Scientology, and most importantly Girls in their upcoming album "Kicks," (due out March 24 on Rough Trade). What's more impressive than how 1990s seem to switch genres every song, is just how well they seem to pull each one off. Put "Kicks" on shuffle and you'll definitely hear some Stooges coming through, other influences include Elvis Costello, The Cure, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and [...]

What the hell am I doing wrong?

The Scottish band named after a decade, 1990s , are hard at work on a new LP and are ready to share the first single with the world. New song "The Box" will appear on the upcoming album Kicks due out March 24th. Enjoy! Download: 1990s - The Box [MP3]
A new track from indie dancefloor miscreants The 1990s is a seriously welcome affair around these parts, especially when there are results like "The Box". The waltzy, distortion and organ-laden track is a guaranteed good time (whether in headphones or on stage) and a sure sign that the new effort coming from the Glaswegian boys will be really fun from start to finish. Words By Jason Hortillas In an era where boxing has suffered under the greed of promoters, the buzz around a super bout is a scarcity. This past Saturday, the contest labeled as "The Dream Match" attempted to revive the hype of a sport once placed in high regard. In a sport where the once honored division of heavyweight is considered a joke, lighter and faster fighters have prevailed to become the cash cows. One of the faces of this movement for the past decade, Oscar De [...]
