Lots of ups and downs for me today so what better way to musically represent that by starting slow and finishing fast. Download audio file (Coldplay - See You Soon (acoustic).mp3) Zero 7 - Crosses - download From The Garden album where we hear Sia and Jose Gonzalez lent all their skills throughout. This track [...]
Danny Stephens & Joe Ray make up UK dubstep/D'n'B duo, Nero . Making a name for themselves as a leader in the Drum and Bass genre in late 2004, Dan and Joe's tracks have been getting praise and play time from Chase & Status and Skream to Tiesto and Diplo. In 2008 their breakthrough dubstep track 'This Way' hit the top of the charts. Since then, they have gained respect from the dubstep world, and continue to produce some of the dirtiest, heaviest, dub'd tracks. Enjoy! Nero- Bad [...]

photo: CarbonSilver (gbenz) What's better than a bit of Dubstep at 3:00 in the morning?... Well, i suppose you could say sleeping but i know i'd rather go with the first option... Anyway, onto the music i've got a Nero remix first up of a track called Dressed To Digress originally by Boy Crisis . There have been a few Nero remixes knocking about over the past couple of weeks, my favourite probably being the Blinded By Lights remix that my boy Eko posted [...]

As dubstep continues along its assent/dissent (delete accordingly) into ludicrous all-out racous rave noise, I thought I'd post some of my current favourite dancefloor orientated dubsteppers. These are the great big dancefloor monsters, verging on electro in terms of sheer maximal bombast and clamour. This isn't the somber, often dark 2-stepper style we associate with Kode9's superb (and my favourite) Hyperdub label, but big bad anthems suitable for tearing excitable dancefloors up. Some of the best dubstep around right now is the quirky, kooky and downright weird stuff from the likes of Zomby, Scuba, Martyn, Ramadanman, King Midas Sound [...]

Tomorrow is the kick-off of Trash Menagerie's new monthly internet radio show on the awesome and recently relaunched thehype.fm . Our show will be joining the ranks of countless other tastemaking blogs who grace the digital airwaves of thehype.fm and can be heard every 4th Wednesday at 4pm EST. Expect to hear guest mixes and playlists from our favorite artists as well as mixes and interviews from our own writers. I can promise it'll be a great place to pick out the upfront gems. Since thehype.fm's relaunch they've added a couple of sweet features (besides the excellent [...]

Death to Promo Aren’t blogs great? All the music you could possibly want at the click of a button? And then you don’t even need to stay on t’internet to play them all back, Spotify. Grand. Faced with an Everest of promo singles (and a solitary full record) the merit of dishing out endless plastic discs throughout the UK and even the world is waning. With today’s release of Coldplay’s live album ‘Left Right Left Right Left’ recorded God-knows-where, it’s about the last thing we need and the title’s about as original as its conception yet [...]

With their highly successful night 'Club Pony' to run, and a deluge of production work to keep up with, the Run Hide Survive boys seem to create a mini flurry of excitement around every new release. Sheffield seems to have created its own microcosm of electro in recent years, which is rather northern in essence - unpretentious, friendly and definately 'up for it'. This feel is carried through into the remix of the Boy Crisis tune 'L'Homme'. The next '& Down' it is not, but it doesn't try, or indeed want to be. Mike, [...]

First that Streets remix ...now this? Can't handle it. Boy Crisis - Dressed To Digress ( Nero Remix) (mp3) Mendetz - Souvenir (mp3)

nero are my absolute favorite dubstep producers, hands down. i have been heavily into drum & bass and neurofunk back in the days, especially the darker and harder tracks with technoid elements from the likes of ed rush & optical (who just released a great new album), stakka & skynet , cause 4 concern or concord dawn . when dubstep first became popular and all the major media tried to make me think 'dubstep' is all along the lines of the sophisticated ambient trickery of burial , i quickly lost [...]

It's late 2006 and a friend pushes a CD into my hands. "You'll love this", she whispered. Bearing in mind that this same friend had said that I'd love the new Britney album at the time, I wasn't holding out much hope. However, when I pressed play, The Sunshine Underground blew me away. It was like the early 90s had come back, got good and very very catchy. Sadly I missed them on the NME tour in 2007 when they toured with Klaxons and CSS but finally they decided to come to Oxford, where [...]

As usual Chicago has delivered the insane weather. Currently it is snowing! It friggin' April! As I walk up and down Michigan Ave and State St, all I really crave is one of those amazing art school dance parties. I want to stop worrying about carrying a coat or proper shoes that won't get damaged from the salt. I composed this list out of the desire for a tropical drink, sun and the ability to wear a spring outfit. I posted some of the best songs that let me reminisce of those May days when the end of school is upon many [...]

Wowie, these guys sound cool. Check out NYC band Boy Crisis, coming at your ears with a post-punk disco sound: incredibly funky sexy music. Check out the killer L'homme , which, according to RCRD LBL , swirls together "shimmery Italo disco, Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'-esque synths, and LCD Soundsystem's electro bass & drum machine into solid dance-party gold." It's sublime! Check it out below, along with their equally electric Dressed to Digress . Check them out at their MySpace . L'homme- Boy Crisis [...]
