West Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s “Mozart's Requiem” concerts were held at The Clay Center’s Maier Foundation Performance Hall this past weekend and I had the pleasure of attending Saturday night. The WVSO performed Richard Wagner’s "Prelude to Act III, Tristan und Isolde," Johannes Brahms' "Tragische Ouvertϋre" (Tragic Overture) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famous "Requiem," with accompaniment [...]
Multi-instrumentalist and indie veteran Cale Parks is back to his solo works following the dissolution of BRAHMS last year with a new single "The Big Bust". The paper thin instrumental track is a world away from Parks' danceable, synth/ percussion pop and its gorgeous. Remember the Baby Alone in Babylone/Brahms- mashup that dj Von Rosenthal de la Vegaz & Stefan Schmid made for the 5th anniversary of this blog? Turns out that Von Rosenthals vj, Aineko , made a video for it. Nudity involved!

We received this message from electronic Brooklynites Brahms : "Yes, Sie Brahmensie have been hiding for some odd months now, but much like you are returning from the beach/ camp site/ miscellaneous exotic location - we are returning to you. We have spent this time recording an album that will be released in 2012. When you hear the recordings and performed versions of these songs, you will notice that significant changes have occurred. However, the essence, the fragrance if you will, that has always been BRAHMS remains the same. Evolution swings [...]
I was surprised to learn that these two musicians don't play together regularly; their four hands could have belonged to one person.

A mixed bag of hustle-and-flow goodness this week. Some new stuff from French dream-poppers M83, an older remix of a Neon Indian classic, a throwback to one of my favourite Latyrx tracks and something from Edmonton-based artists, The Joe and Gobble Gobble. Enjoy. Free mp3: M83 - Midnight City Free mp3: Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms (Brahms remix) Free mp3: Latyrx - Lady Don't Tek No [...]

mp3 || Brahms - A Full Embrace I have finally had the chance albeit a little late to get through the recent Bridgetown Summer Sampler and I can honestly say this is the best yet. A whole batch of new releases on cassette (it still puts a smile on my face to be able to say new on cassette in this digital age), CD & DVD. A favourite of mine from one of the new releases is Brahms' A Full Embrace . Although it is [...]

Apparently the L.A. Philharmonic and their 30-year-old wunderkind director, Gustavo Dudamel, have presented a series of concerts titled “Brahms Unbound.” As heard Sunday afternoon at Eastgate Cinema, the final concert of the series could also have been titled “Glories Unleashed.” The printed program consisted of only two works, but not only are they masterpieces, they are also the last two compositions Brahms penned for orchestra: the Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, Op. 102, and the Symphony No. 4, Op. 98. The better than average celebrity host was John Lithgow, who managed to [...]
Tweet This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before [...]

Just like every other blog post out there I'll start by stating that I'm not a big fan of remixes, but this one is fantastic. There aren't many electronic artists that I support wholeheartedly but Sun Airway is one that I absolutely do. They put on one of the best shows I've seen this year and they just obliterate you with wall after wall of sound. BRAHMS balances this remix perfectly with a little bit of cinematic allure and the right amount of pumping beats while allowing the best aspects of the original song [...]

Below is a sweet remix of Sun Airway 's "Your Moon" by BRAHMS. As posted by Sun Airway, "The first time we heard this, we were driving through a crazy snowstorm in the middle of the night en route to Chicago. IT WAS EPIC. OBVS. Get into it." Enjoy! - The Deli Staff Your Moon (BRAHMS remix) by Sun Airway

I'm feeling pretty good about this playlist, take the time to check out a few songs 1. Shiv Hurrah- All my teeth fell out I've got this bad habit of forgetting to give a track list to my friends when i burn a mix for them. At least five times i've had someone call me up and ask "who sings the song that goes 'i had a dream that all my teeth fell out as i was just about to [...]
