Ne'er you mind this show takes place on a Monday (or "the weekend" as it's known in the service industry), the rainbow spazz pop of Javelin , the twisted compressed circuits of Raleigh Moncrief, and The Pass' glitchmaster Brainbheats will offer up one of the most bizarrely high energy shows you're likely to see anytime soon. Why not save some money in these lean times and go for free? Alls ya gotta do is visit this post from The Decibel Tolls' Facebook , and comment for one (1) [...]
Brainbheats describes his own sound as; “Sometimes dreamy, sometimes dancey. Sometimes jazzy, and sometimes dirty.” And, much like Philip K. Dick’s androids, “Brainbheats dreams of electric sheep.” I think Brainbeats could fashion electric sheep out of the ether with nothing but a keyboard and a bumpin’ bass line. Music Player: [...]

Brainbheats (aka Brian Healey) has announced a new EP entitled Monster Logic , set for release November 20th (except on Bandcamp...see below). After a busy period of musical projects, including recording and touring with his band The Pass , as well producing acclaimed remixes of artists such as Cults, Local Natives, Das Racist, James Blake, Young the Giant, and Kimbra, the EP marks the first original music Healey has released under the Brainbheats name since 20102s Tomorrow is the Destroyer . The first track "Marathon/Stark Raving" is available for streaming now on Soundcloud: [...]

While all of those other websites just troll the hype machine, we manage to tactfully organize the best of what's been sent to our inbox. This week is no exception. Although I would hate to label one of these artists above the next, A Lull is one of my hidden gems in my music library. I even mentioned them in my 6 Music Mistakes Siri Makes in which A Lull just doesn't seem to cooperate with Siri. In any event, "Summer Dress" is free this week. A Lull is also pictured above. [...]

After the chaos of the last month, this week has been pretty slow. No new Radiohead albums (at least not yet), no White Stripes break ups, no Bonnaroo announcements, and plenty of Charlie Sheen winning. Whether you enjoy this change or not, we'd like to cap it all off with our weekly Friday Mixtape. This week's mix features a healthy splash of new music from the likes of Panda Bear, Boris, Sloan, and Toro y Moi. Plus, our partner site, Cover Me , threw in some fantastic reworkings of Radiohead, Prince, Gaga, Guided By Voices, and more. Check it [...]

FOLLOW SP ON TWITTER These dudes are great. Das Racist not only do they make sikk music, but by the sounds of it they probably throw down pretty hard on the weekends too. My kind of crew. They've been generating some decent hype around the blogworld of late and the single ' Swate ' from earlier this month goes hard. Thought I'd bestow onto the populace unfamiliar with the group a super combo pack that rivals Lunchables from back in the day. FULL album streams of both Shut Up, Dude [...]

Brainbheats has given Das Racist a complete makeover on their "hahahaha jk?" track that was originally produced by boi-1da . And I say "complete makeover" because this isn't like your normal remix. This one sounds almost completely different but still contains elements from the original. Check out remix and original track below. Ever wonder how Days Of Our Lives would sound if it went synth pop? Brainbheats, of The Pass (who released a wicked, PMA approved debut record last year with Burst ) has remixed Boi-1da's stellar beat for Das Racist from their second critically acclaimed mixtape of 2010, Sit Down Man . The new remix of “hahahaha jk? ” maintains a few elements of the highly original track while completely altering it, adding an array of synthesizers, mechanical vocals, and some dazzling electro-pop beats, that are evocative of Burst [...]

Upside Sounds proudly presents its list of the Top Remixes of 2010 . This list consists of tracks that we personally discovered in 2010, so don’t throw a fit if some of the songs are actually from 2009. We intend to showcase the artists and tracks that meant the most to us in this abundant year of great music. We’ll be counting down five tracks a day for the next five days. Here's day two of our countdown - as always, we hope you guys enjoy! 20. Sunday [...]
I don't really try to hide the fact that I really like remixes. In fact, I'd say the majority of the stuff we post here are remixes (despite the often lengthy names that become a bear to type out time after time). But it makes sense really, most of them are unofficial and/or sent to us, so they're typically 100% safe to post, and I like the way that these producers can take an existing song and visualize it as something completely different in their heads. I like all kinds of remixes, but I find myself more [...]

Ok, so I have a soft spot in my heart for boy-girl indie pop duos. Usually these types of acts put forth music that is nostalgic and brings out the inner kid in all of us. So as for boy-girl pop duos go, right now I feel there is none better than Cults . If you have paid any attention to the singles they have released you know why. In case you haven't, I have the evidence to back this up thanks to a new Daytrotter session from the [...]
