It's definitely been a second since we heard from Brooklyn-via-Chicago electro pop outfit Pretty Good Dance Moves, but early next year marks the release of their new album Limo . Limo is a 32-minute work in eight "movements" and showcases Brazilian Girls' Sabina Sciubba as the featured vocalist. The closing track from Limo , "I Wonder Why," which we have here today, coasts along to a breezy, laid-back pulse. Download the song after the jump. Read More...

In eleven years Carol C (vocalist and DJ of Si*Sé ) went from being an outsider downtempo charmer to a full fledged internationally celebrated electronic pop musician. It was a huge feat to accomplish, and despite her experimental nature and being part of an over-saturated market of electronic musicians, she has formed Si*Sé, a group of wide-ranging musical references that is graced with the general warmth and attractiveness of her songwriting. Si*Se's latest EP, Gold , combines with her deep soulfulness and confirms all the proof of Carol C's unique talent. It's a taste [...]

I can forgive Alfred Nobel for having invented dynamite, but only a fiend in human form could have invented the Nobel Prize. - George Bernard Shaw I can't really fit this one in anywhere but first. Brazilian Girls - Don't Stop "You never had it better Than when I was with you, baby" Pandora is one of my greatest friends. It introduces me to a lot of different music that I didn't know. I know Pandora seems to have a pattern going, but its all cool with me. And this track "Don't Stop" is one I found through it, and I do appreciate. So I hope you like it as well. If you enjoyed that track, here are few others that might also tickle your [...]

The running joke is that none of the members of this three-person band are Brazilian, and only one of them is a 'girl'. Even that's stretching it, because vocalist Sabina Sciubba is a woman, and a stunning one at that. The Brazilian Girls are an eclectic electronica band from New York City, made up of Ms. Sciubba from Germany, Didi Gutman from Argentina, and Aaron Johnston from the US, that sings in a variety of languages – Italian, Spanish, French, German, etc – and incorporate a wide range of styles into their music, like tango, jazz…and bossa nova. It's [...]

The next day I decided to venture up to High Camp and walk around the festival grounds. With breathtaking sights, kickass bike trails and a paintball course; Wanderlust was turning into more of an amazing introduction to summer in Tahoe than a run-of-the-mill concert festival. Like I said in the Day One post, the atmosphere of the festival and clientele that roamed the grounds made for a very positive experience. Most festivals are crammed with drunken frat douche-bags yelling and screaming as well as skinny LA hipster whores who are more interested in boning the band [...]
Last year's Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival was blooming with the latest and greatest of indie rock with acts like Common, Spoon, Andrew Bird, Jenny Lewis, Broken Social Scene, Gillian Welch, Girl Talk, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Rogue Wave, Amanda Palmer, Kaki King , and Mates of State . That's quite an epic line-up for a festival in the mountains of Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, CA. However, there must have been a bunch of letters sent to the organizers of Wanderlust saying, "Hey! How 'bout in 2010...you quit with the indie rock crap and [...]

What I like about the band Brazilian Girls: 1-None of them are from Brazil. 2-How most of Sabina Sciubba's ensembles probably need structural permits. Brazilian Girls: Good Time.mp3

If you (like me) find yourself ferreting through an increasingly narrow tunnel of cultural obsessions you've cultivated through the years, you'll understand the latest iteration of my OCD: pairing music with food. Certain very particular flavors simply demand to be serenaded by certain very particular artistes. My top picks (this week): Björk and Roquefort cheese: The pungent, wet, moldering, delicate, umami-packed, grassy, sheepy richness of my favorite cheese, cut with tiny razor-sharp pin pricks of flavor-bitchslaps always tastes better with the outré Icelandic princess aggressively wailing, whimpering, simpering, sighing, giggling and shrieking in my [...]

File under: dubby slow burner Brazilian Girls - Last Call (Carl Craig Remix Instrumental) Mediafire | YSI | 320 kbps

The quirky and electic Brazilian Girls which consists of three men ( Didi Gutman on keyboards and computers, Jesse Murphy on bass and Aaron Johnston on drums) and one woman ( Sabina Sciubba , the vocalist) have struck a chord with us. Despite not a single member being Brazilian, their music makes us want to move to Brazil in a heartbeat. We just recently came across "L'Interprete" which means interpreter in French. The song is quite short but we enjoy every single second of it; this is organic music at it's [...]

Filed under: News , Video Our friends at SnagFilms are letting non-native New Yorkers can keep up with what's new and hot on the city's music scene. Thanks to a series of webisodes called 'NYCMusicShow,' viewers can learn about and listen to upcoming, New York-based musicians. In a recent episode of the show, we meet electronic dance rockers, ReRedux. A side project of Brazilian Girls ' Didi Gutman and Aaron Johnston, ReRedux formed after their bandmate Sabina Sciubba learned that she was pregnant. Unlike their [...]
