It's been a long time coming but it's finally here. LMDM is back and the beloved mixtape is as my greatest inspiration would put it, insanely great. Per usual Steph captures a multitude of feelings, emotions and styles sure to keep the worst of music skimmers engaged and entertained. All the selections come together to portray a sort melancholic hope that instigates both thoughts of lost loves and desired passions. Great art always explores both coast, it always makes you think of the sad while inspiring the beautiful. LMDM is great art to me and throughout this unique combination of February & [...]

New Paltz, New York's Breakfast In Fur —a member of our own Analog Edition family—released a brand new track yesterday as part of the Sunchoke collective's Winter Warmer compilation. The song, "House," is a blissfully fun sing-along colored with irresistible group-sung harmonies, bursts of homemade synthesizers, and a wonderfully light and swinging guitar line. All together, it's the perfect warming antidote for a cold winter night. Download the entire 17-track comp for free over on Sunchoke's Bandcamp . Breakfast In Fur - "House" [...]

We couldn't really recap 2011 without mentioning Everybody Taste's venture into the world of vinyl pressing with our very own imprint, Analog Edition Records . Analog Edition started out of a desire to press what we still consider to be the best record of 2010 onto vinyl: Los Angeles guitarist Blake Mills' spectacular Break Mirrors . Thanks to the folks at Blake's label Record Collection, we ended up with a double A-side 7" featuring two of Break Mirrors' best tracks, the two-chord foot-stomper "Hey Lover" and the Fleetwood Mac-tinged "Winter Song." From there, Analog [...]
Tweetvaso link I had intended to write about New Paltz band Breakfast In Fur after I got their EP from Matt over at Analog Edition, but it got put off, and I never ended up doing it. But with the band out on tour now, and stopping at Bug Jar here in Rochester tomorrow night,...

Keeping up with the Halloween cheer, here's a killer cut from DC's own More Humans—the angular guitar-driven bloodsucking funk of "Dracula." The track comes off the band's Demon Station EP, due out shortly on 10" vinyl via local label Cricket Cemetery . The record release show for Demon Station is this coming Saturday, November 5th at St. Stephens Church in Columbia Heights. Analog Edition's own Breakfast In Fur will also be on the bill, making the journey down from New Paltz, New York to DC as part of their string of east coast tour dates. [...]
I've been no slouch on sharing my love for LA-based music blog, Rollo & Grady . Somehow they always seem to have their eye on rugged new bands that fit my lifestyle and musical tastes to a tee...I guess it helps to live in Southern California sometimes. On my daily stop-in this morning, I was pretty pumped to see their newest post...the top 21 artists of 2011 . It's a pretty amazing list and plays well from top to bottom. If you get the chance then pop over and have a read/listen for yourself. I have included a few [...]

This is a picture of Sarabeth Tucek. She makes music that's kinda of a downer, but it's like listening to aural agony, and it's amazing right after a late night of drinking with friends or if you just ran over a squirrel or something like that. Anyway, I thought this picture was just all kinds [...]

Now that July 4th has come and gone, continue easing back into reality and revisit June with Quit Mumbling. The month had plenty of sunshine and equal amounts of gloom. QM accounts for both in our latest mix. Quit Mumbling / June Mixtape

Our friends over at Analog Edition have just released their second 7", with New York psychedelic-folk-charmers, Breakfast in Fur. "I Don't Care" has a wonderful off the cuff feel, almost as if the band recorded a jam session in the kitchen. It's easy to get swept up in the playful melody and the smorgasbord of sonic intricacies. Check out the track below- The other half of AE is a zine, that's right, a publication that actually still uses paper! The debut edition features original art and articles from the likes of Justin from Aquarium Drunkard , [...]

THE BEST ALBUMS 1) The Sandwitches :: Mrs. Jones' Cookies "In 2011, there is perhaps no band more aggressively honest and loyal to their distinctive sound than the Sandwitches." Review The Sandwitches - "Lightfoot" 2) [...]

I wholly and sincerely love seeing my fellow music-bloggers start record labels. After all, these are people who are passionate about music and who have already demonstrated great taste. One of the more recent additions to that club is Analog Edition Records run by Matt from Everybody Taste . Analog Edition enters the scene with two strong releases including debut E.P. by New Paltz, NY-based group Breakfast in Fur . Clattering and rickety, their brand of bedroom psych-folk is warming, infectious and care free. Clever hooks seamlessly blend with offbeat and thoughtfully arranged instrumentation. I was [...]

Limited to an edition of 100 physical copies, the 64 page booklet is a collection of interviews, artwork, and articles featuring labels Mississippi Records, Infinity Cat Records, and Father/Daughter Records; bloggers Aquarium Drunkard, Rollo Grady, Tympanogram, 7 Inches, Knox Road, Folk Hive, and Hugh Willett; and bands Sonny & The Sunsets, Lord Huron, and Levek. The rad cover artwork is by the ultra-talented Kaitlin Van Pelt of Breakfast In Fur. You can now watch a video preview [...]

You can snag both records now from the Analog Edition store . Breakfast In Fur - "Shine" Blake Mills - [...]

Universal Electricity pays homage to Young with a compilation of indie artists covering his songs. Some of these covers are pretty out there and others are, well let's just say my taste. The one that sticks out to me is the cover teen Daze did called "Harvest Moon" As soonI heard the first few seconds it caught my attention, the modern electronic lounge beat they use is addicting. Teen Daze-Harvest Moon (Neil Young cover) Headed for the Ditch Tracklist: [...]

Breakfast in Fur // There is a lot of what I would imagine the sounds children's aluminum toys from the 1950's would have made (whiz, bang, tinker) laid over the lead singer, Dan Wolfe's whispering vocals. Mix that with some beautiful instrumentation and you get what sounds like a expertly composed tale you would share with a group of eager children sitting wide eyed and crossed legged on the carpet in front of you during story hour. It's really the type of music that lets you close your eyes [...]
