BREAKING NEWS! Or maybe not so breaking but Person L will be performing at The Picador on November 18th. Person L is the latest side project of Starting Line front man Kenny Vasoli. Joining him will be Straylight Run frontman John Nolan and Brian Bonz. I'm banking that the show is going to be pretty sweet.

Brian Bonz is about to take over the world. Be prepared.

Brian Bonz and the Dot Hongs opening for Pronto (Mikael Jorgensen of Wilco). Bonz is the Brooklyn native who has been recognized as "the best of Brooklyn's experimental rock scene" by KEXP. more after the jump....

Why yes, that talent you hear leading the pack of Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle is familiar...if you owned or came in contact with a radio in and beyond 1998. Hearn is the keyboardist for pop-perfect band Barenaked Ladies , and his digital seduction of the keys is arguably what gave Stunt the edge it needed for such strong Grammy notice. And in standard musical rite of passage—under-represented band member makes a name for himself solo—Hearn joins the ranks of names like Kevin Drew ( Broken Social Scene ), [...]
Continuing a feature we started last week, I present you with a couple of "quick hits". These are albums that have come across my desk, but for one reason or another I haven't been able to dedicate enough time to give a proper full review.Brian Bonz and the Dot Hongs, From Sumi To JapanThis is a very strong indie pop record which draws on a diverse set of influences. Anybody who likes Death Cab
NPR is streaming Brendan Benson's My Old, Familiar Friend. AOL/Spinner is streaming the following albums through Sunday, August 9, so listen while you can. • Modest Mouse, 'No One's First, And You're Next EP' • Fruit Bats, 'The Ruminant Band'...
Bonz is a talented solo artist capable of penning great tunes with a voice that melts hearts, but in collaboration with the Dot Hongs he seems more like a rockstar.

If you have missed the Nightmare of You tour in your city, start kicking yourself now. You may have just missed the best show of the summer. Brian Bonz (minus the Dot Hongs ) kicked off with his angelic, but devilishly powerful voice accompanied by acoustic guitar. He accented his chord progressions by alternating taps and slaps on the body of the guitar to create a rich percussive effect. As he teetered between Fleet Foxes sweet to Kevin Devine power, Bonz made an excellent impression as he showcased [...]

Last Thursday the Hot Half Life showrunner ventured down to Reggie's Rock Club on a trip of both business and pleasure to see Brian Bonz open for Plushgun and Nightmare of You . I was strictly there for the Bonz factor, having secured an interview with him the month before when I'd taken a liking to him during my two state Kevin Devine extravaganza but never one to turn down an opportunity to rock out, I wasn't about to let the fact that while I'd heard of but never actually heard Plushgun or Nightmare [...]

The Hot Half Life is no stranger to Kevin Devine , as it's been made clear by recent entries giving accolades to his latest release, Brother's Blood, which he's currently touring with his Goddamn Band in support of. Introduced to him some years prior via his covers of Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliott Smith and Wilco, amongst others, I became a casual fan of his work - The type of fan who says 'Oh, Kevin Devine's pretty cool' in passing if the moment arises. Upon the release of Brother's Blood last month, however, my casual fan-ness turned into [...]
Filed under: Video , Exclusive As Brian Bonz treks across the U.S. with Kevin Devine and the Miniature Tigers , a single from his latest album, 'From Sumi to Japan,' gets the video treatment. 'Dee the Dinosaur,' directed by Tim Duff of Renart Films, explores the song's dark undertones in the form of, as Bonz tells Spinner, "a short movie." "[The song] 'Dee the Dinosaur' was inspired by a true story of a best friend who wandered off in the night for drugs after watching a movie at my [...]

Last night, Philadelphia's North Star Bar saw the launch of Kevin Devine 's latest North American tour in support of the newly released Brother's Blood , the Brooklynite's fifth studio full-length. Brother's Blood marks a departure from Devine's previous sound, thanks in part to the Goddamn Band playing a major role in contributing to the songwriting process. Backed by a Goddamn Band of amazing musicians, among them opener Brian Bonz on keys, Devine showed off the Brother's Blood by playing [...]
Joshua recently had the chance to interview one of PopWreckoning's favorite singer/songwriters, Kevin Devine . The guys talked about everything from albums, Brand New and politics. Make sure you check out part I before moving on to part II here: Joshua , PopWreckoning : I find that you get a large number of people that are drawn to each individual album because each album is so different. Like I know a lot of people that prefer Make the Clocks Move . I find the Brand [...]
