I hope you know that it's going to take you a few days to recover from Oxegen 2010. You probably won't want to venture out into the sunlight for three or four days afterwards. But when you do finally re-enter the outside world, there is a fantastic treat in store for you. Next Friday, the [...]

This week [Monday - Friday] I'm counting down my Top 50 artists in my humble opinion at this moment in time. The artists are to have released an album/ep or played a gig since Jan 2009 in order to qualify for the list. 11. Mark Dignam It seems strange writing about Mark's music again because it was something I did every few days when I started the blog. Inspired by Dylan, Cohen and Waits Mark writes the kind of songs which help [...]

The best thing about organising your own sessions night in a venue is the great sense of pride you get when everything about the night works. The major success story was the acoustic rock from The Whiskey Limbs. It was energetic and full of emotion and humour from a band with the right attitude. Their three part harmonies and country lyrics were just wonderful. The whole night helped to life my spirits to face the difficult year ahead. [...]

Great line-up but you're not allowed to go! 'Live at Boyles' is on in Slane that night!

Personally I dont particularly care for the number 1 spot. I supposs that's Simon Cowell's fault. However I do personally know a man who cares! Brian Canavan wants you to put him in the charts at number 1 next week with his song 4 Foolscap Pages! [What's that saying? If you reach for the stars you get the sky ......] Brian also wants you to say hello and kiss him under the mistletoe during the next two gigs; Saturday 19th The Mezz Eustace St 11pm for Focus ireland (Full band) [...]

Running a weekly music sessions night of high quality acts must be very rewarding but a very challenging task. Tomorrow's line-up is amazing; Caruso Brian Canavan James Vincent McMorrow Sixteen Layers http://www.myspace.com/rubyses sions
I seen the following over on Jim's blog ; "We at AU Magazine are in the process of putting together a poll of the Top Irish Albums of the Decade for our December/January issue. Any queries about eligibility, please email me. The results [...]

I can honestly say that the Sessions nights in Slane have been going very well. I know I am biased but there's something magical about these nights. I am hoping that Thursday's night will continue the magic. I know people must have one eye on Christmas but I do hope we get a decent crowd this week. Here are some sample mp3s to encourage you to make the journey! Elder Roche - Shine Brian Canavan - Come and Get Me [...]
