Attention UK and European readers: One of my favorite artists, as well as favorite new musical discovery of 2011, Mr. Brian Olive , will be making his way across the ocean for some European shows starting in a couple of weeks! Brian Olive - Strange Attractor I know you're out there...go see him! EUROPEAN TOUR DATES JANUARY 2012 27 BE ANTWERP TRIX [...]
I've never heard of Brian Olive before today but based on this one tune his PR peeps sent me I think I'm gonna be searchin' out some deeper info on the guy. "Two Of Everything" straddles a bit o' '60s psych, '70s boogie-prog (?!) and a heaping slathering of soul dripping down and into the grooves. Seriously, all this comes together in a way that just won't quit and demands repeated spins and invented dance moves, preferably with a partner twirling their hair this way and that before pushing up against you chest and your hips to melt into you. [...]

First of all, I apologize for missing last week. I know there were many panties in a bunch, horses not withheld and beans that were not cooled. I apologize for the heartache, and I made a point of bringing you the best indie tracks from the past 2 weeks, so make sure you control yourself- this sabbath is gonna probably cause you to make a boner. A mishap that is. Anyway… First of all, I can't stop listening to "No Love" by the band Hooray For Earth. Which is a perfect band to kick off the sabbath with, [...]
It's another strong week for new indie rock releases with fresh albums from Black Lips, Arctic Monkeys, Cults, F*cked Up, Dawes, Hooray For Earth, Almost Free, Hospital Ships, Givers. We've like the Cults since we first heard them, but here's where the 'indie question' comes in. Now that the Cults have signed to Columbia - [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Here are The Wheel's Still In Spin's suggested new releases for this week. City and Colour – Little Hell. Download "Fragile Bird" (mp3). Dallas Green, who records his own music under the name City and Colour, is the guitarist of the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. This, his third City and Colour album, is another set of folk-based songs with catchy, lilting vocals. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. – It's a Corporate World. Download "Skeletons" (mp3). The debut album from this Detroit duo is full of addictively catchy melodies and purely pleasurable music. The band's [...]

We were pretty impressed with the debut solo album from former Greenhorn and current musical wizard Brian Olive back in 2009. The garage rock and soul that emanated from the album made it one of the more under-appreciated releases of the year. Well, Brian is back and has enlisted the help of Black Keys frontman and sometimes solo artist Dan Auerbach to help with his sophomore release. Olive shared the recording and production duties with Auerbach, but make no mistake, his fingerprints are dominant on Two Of Everything. The new album [...]

I caught ex-Greenhorne Brian Olive open for The Black Keys last year, and sadly, I was less than impressed. Might have been my mood. Might have been anticipation of seeing the headliners. Might have been that his 2009 self-titled solo debut was a little too unfocused for my taste. Regardless, Olive has a new record on the horizon, Two Of Everything , that boasts co-production by Herr Auerbach himself. He also has a catchy little single that echoes the classic rock stomp of bands like Grand Funk Railroad or, [...]
As evident by the recent tour announcements from Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon , The Black Keys will be spending some of this coming summer opening for music's biggest bands. As evident by the previously announced June headlining gigs and newly announced August and September-October headlining tours, they'll also be spending a portion of this coming summer headlining their own shows. Combine all the dates together, add in a few festival appearances and one-offs here and there and you have a summer itinerary that will keep The Black Keys on the road [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Video , New Music Sure, there might be a bevy of bikini-clad girls splashing around in the Black Keys ' record-label promo and unofficial music video for their new track 'Next Girl,' but what you should really pay attention to is the yellow scrolling alert at the bottom. Calling it an "attempt by their record label to attract attention to the band using a ridiculous dinosaur" -- who happens to be named Frank [...]
Brian Olive has just finished his latest video for his song "Jubilee Line" from his recent self-titled full-length effort (on Alive Records). The video made its exclusive premiere on Magnet magazine on December 7th, and will then make its local Cincy public premiere at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center in January.

We already told you how much we love the debut album from Brian Olive, released earlier this year on Alive Records . Well Olive is still getting the attention of new fans, and has just released a brand new video for his song "Jubilee Line" directed by Cincinnati's own Pete Ohs . Check out the vid below, filmed entirely in the Queen City. You can also snag a free song too from Olive, called "Killing Stone." Brian Olive - Jubilee Line from Pete Ohs on [...]

Through sheer laziness, I've flirted around with the idea of compiling The Daily Graboid every two-three weeks as opposed to the regular way of doing it once per week. I'm not sure which format I prefer, so I'll just leave it up to you guys. To be honest, I'm leaning towards just sticking with the original format. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - right? Anyways, as you can see with the list, I'm missing a few of the bigger releases from the past few weeks (Regina Spektor, Wilco, etc.). With so much [...]

With the passing of Michael Jackson yesterday, the music world lost one of the greatest artists in history. People around the world are mourning the passing of a legend and celebrating his life, career, and unmatched artistic legacy. We here at EAR FARM are spinning his four essential albums all weekend ( Off the Wall , Thriller , Bad , and Dangerous ), debating how best to spell "ma ma say, ma ma sah, ma ma mah coo sa," and one glove dancing until we can't one glove dance no more. If you're looking for [...]

Tuneful mix of rock, glam, psych, soul, jazz and exotica Brian Olive (as Oliver Henry) explored British Invasion and American garage rock as a member of the Cincinnati-based Greenhornes and Detroit-based Soledad Brothers, playing sax, flute, guitar, piano and organ, as well as singing and writing songs. On his solo debut he expands beyond the gritty hard-rock and reworked blues of Blind Faith and mid-period Stones to include healthy doses of psych, glam, and most surprisingly, soul and exotica. Influences of the New York Dolls, T. Rex and Meddle-era Pink Floyd are easy to [...]
So, Pavement's Stephen Malkmus has kept himself active releasing albums on Matador Records with The Jicks, and now Pavement's Spiral Stairs, aka Scott Kannberg, has his own solo album slotted for Matador this fall . What are the chances they get the old band back together? Oh, probably none, but a boy can dream, right? Pavement reunion wishes aside, Spiral Stairs' "Maltese Terrier" sounds like a Pavement song, if the boys in Pavement had cared about playing in tune all those years back. In other words, it won't kill the urge for that Pavement reunion. [...]

Since I missed the '70s and blindly followed the "Proud to be Drug Free" crowd in the '80s, Brian Olive is filling in the blanks for me. If I fell asleep to this record I'm sure I'd dream myself into New Orleans sometime in the '70s, chemical high and all. The music is as colorful as the album cover, and sounds like a stack of beatnik, jazz, and psychedelic records melted into one soundtrack to a '70s brown-hued television show. I think I'm gonna need a brownie. (by our friend Emily M.) [...]
