Heute tritt der Brite mitunter als Musicaldarsteller in Erscheinung. Brian Protheroe hat 1974 sein Debüt "Pinball" veröffentlicht, eine Platte so weiss wie das Kostüm der Tolkien-Figur Saruman, die der Brite 2007 im Musical zu The Lord Of The Rings verkörperte.
