"Has anyone ever written anything for you?" Stevie Nicks asked on a 1989 B-side. As far as I know, the answer would be no. Who even "writes" anymore? If not face to face, most communication these days is done by tapping a keypad with your fingers. And texts, instant messages and Facebook wall posts will never count. My ex-boyfriend said he bought me a card for my last birthday, and I presume that he wrote something in it, but he forgot it at home when he came [...]
Reunited, and it feels so good.
With news that the three surviving original Beach Boys (Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine) are planning a 50th anniversary tour this year, I thought we could share this video from 1974. The Boys appeared on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" along with Chicago that year (they did a cool version of Chicago's "Wishin' You Were Here" with backing vocals from the Beach Boys, as on the record). But this one is the Beach Boys only, led by the late Carl Wilson singing "Darlin'." You know, I remember seeing that show when I was [...]

WIB NECK BENDER!!! Lee Bannon is an experimental Hip-Hop producer based out of Sacramento California. Bannon has proved himself to be different from the rest, producing for artists such as: Talib Kweli, Wu-tang's Inspectah deak, and Zion I. Drifting into hip-hop's hands around the age of 13, Bannon both MCed and created beats, first on the Korg Electribe then progressed into Software. Being an MC was no longer a goal when the beats of Block Head's Uncle Tonny's Coloring Book won him over. As he honed his skills, he quickly generated an eclectic collection of music. With influences ranging [...]

As if last week's reunion news wasn't enough, Brian Wilson returns with a rare version of The Beach Boys ' Christmas ditty, "Little Saint Nick". Recorded in October 1963 - months before the actual Christmas Album sessions took place - the backing track here would end up being used as the foundation for the All Summer Long track, "Drive In". So, what's the context for it now? Well, it's Christmas time, Capitol just released a newly remastered version of the Christmas Album , and audio engineer Mark Linett discovered [...]
Holy Grail Alert! 'The most famous unfinished album in rock & roll history' as Rolling Stone recently called it is finally... available. Like many fans of The Beach Boys I am thrilled about the release of SMiLE Sessions. 'Pet Sounds' might be considered one of the greatest albums of all time, but the SMiLE Sessions [...]
Filed under: Exclusive (C)2011 GuyWebster.com - Courtesy of Brian Wilson Archive This fall, the Beach Boys released 'The SMiLE Sessions,' the closest approximation to what would have been their abandoned 1967 LP 'Smile.' That "new" record, combined with the recent announcement that the Beach Boys were reuniting for a 50th-anniversary tour , certainly made this a special holiday season for the band's fans. Now Spinner is adding to the cheer by giving away [...]

And the reissue of the year, you may ask? Well, the majestic Smile Sessions - I went for the 2 disc version myself, as you have to draw the line somewhere - blew the competition right out of the water of course. Pure Wilson genius at work. Here's one of the many fun bonus tracks. "Sleep a lot, eat a lot, brush 'em like crazy..." The Beach Boys - Smile Backing Vocals Montage

The founding members of the legendary band, The Beach Boys , are set for a 50th anniversary reunion. Beach Boys' Brian Wilson , Mike Love , Al Jardine , Bruce Johnston , and David Marks will come together for a 50 date international tour. The band are also set to release a new studio album and commemorative catalog with Capitol Records and EMI. Tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
The four remaining Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine, are hitting the road this year to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. It all kicks off at the New Orleans Jazz Fest in April. No other dates have been announced yet, we just know there are 50. The band went back into the studio recently to re-do the symbolic "Do It Again," a great mid-tempo rocker that doesn't get the recognition of the other hits in the band's incredible collection. The tune will be part of a new album set to be released next year. [...]

Brian Wilson , Mike Love [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music , New Releases Jason Merritt, Getty Images After lots of speculation as to whether they would or wouldn't, the band have decided to tour as part of their 50th anniversary -- the Beach Boys that is, not the Rolling Stones . According to a press release posted Friday morning on the Beach Boy's official site , original [...]

After dropping hints of a 50th anniversary reunion a few months back it seems that the Beach Boys are officially planning a reunion for the 50th anniversary of their formation. The surviving members (Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston) have been meeting up again over the summer and discussing their plans. They've recorded a new version of their 1968 hit "Do It Again," which will likely see the light of day in the coming months, while Jardine told Rolling Stone that they do indeed plan to tour despite their age and [...]

The album was recorded in 1966 following the release of the seminal album "Pet Sounds." Some of the songs eventually saw the light and Brian Wilson even recorded a new version of [...]
