Another record fair has come and gone. And as expected, so has some of my money. And in it's place I received some cd's. Mmmm lovely trade. Not the best record fair ever. Choice was limited and after about five minutes of being in the hall, my eyes decided to stop focusing. CD's blurred into one another. Artist names mixed with album titles. Colours intertwined. CD cases seem to melt before my eyes. But in amongst all that, I found a few bargains and I really do insist that you not only listen to the tracks [...]

Adele. Actually that may be stretching the truth... I didn't spot Ms Van Outen until after Adele played, infact Fear of Flying were mid way through their set, and I suppose now you mention it Adele isn't actually a band, but it beats the alternative post title of "Singer/Songwriter roundup"! I'm not sure if singer/songwriter is the correct pigeon hole, but either way I seem to have featured a vast amount of acoustic guitar toting acts on this blog of late. So in a bid to separate the good from the James Blunt I thought I'd round up [...]
I'm concious of the fact that the site is currently lacking a few album reviews at the moment, but the fact is that it typifies the shizophrenic listening tendencies I've been displaying recently. I blame Tapes 'n Tapes. The album that sent me spiralling back into my Pixies catalogue, through Sonic ...

A pletora of artists for you on this.. (I'm considering terminating eashfa or updating more rarely than I have because well, that's the tragedy of my character and I can never really finish off what I start) one of the final posts. I get urges to post like anyone else. But then I type and retype things and annoy myself and others, and read other audio blogs. Some of which actually say things. Lots better than I. I might consider podcasting though, then I'd feel more useful! Anywho, here's a fully-furnished indie-perspective playlist. If you're not [...]

Matador, 2006 x — Ром-колы намешайте. — А мне двойной виски, чистый, без льда. — По хардкору сегодня? — Вроде того... слушай, а ты мне альбом переписывал на днях — откуда взял вообще? — Какой? Morning Light? — Вот-вот. Brightblack Morning Light. Откуда это? — Да как обычно, нашел где-то в интернете, скачал. Понравился, что-ли? — Ага... ну, не в этом дело. Впрочем, неважно. — Ты какой-то [...]
This ain't no Blair Witch Project Everybody Daylight is the kind of 6 minute, downtempo, chill-out track that would...

I wrote the following about Brightblack in the fall of 2005 after first listening the pair's ala.cali.tucky album: " Brightblack is made up of longtime friends and musical partners Nabob and Raybob -- two Alabama ex-pats now living in the woods of Humboldt County, CA. The duo's indie-Americana-folk stylings were taken notice by Will Oldham ,who subsequently recorded two split/EPs, and has toured with Brightblack on four occasions. " [...]

Brightblack Morning Light, Brightblack Morning Light ( Matador 2006) Perfect album for stewing in your own juices in 98-degree weather -- no way to cool off so just embrace it and melt. The most frequent comparisons are pretty accurate, Mazzy Star or the Stones' strung-out blues phase ("I just Want to See His Face"). Aside from the Rhodes I think Brightblack's secret weapon is the drumming ... skittering patterns on "Everybody Daylight," backward looped snares on "We Share Our Blanket With the Owl" ... simplicity and repetition casts a spell, but there's more [...]

Brightblack Morning Light .......This little band from Northern California has been generating some digital heat over the last couple of weeks. Nationally, it probably all started with the Rolling Stone blurb (expanded interview found here ), but we've been catching bits and pieces over the last couple months here in the Bay Area concerning their new album (self-titled). They're currently on a pretty extensive tour , hopefully you can catch them. Getting down to the nitty-gritty, BML's music has somehow worked itself into my daily routine; which happens to be [...]
