photos by Amanda Hatfield , words by Bill Pearis Veronica Falls @ Music Hall of Williamsburg The last time Veronica Falls were in town, singer Roxanne Clifford was under-the-weather, making for somewhat subdued performances. Thursday (2/9), though, the band were in fine health and form, the best I've seen since Popfest 2010 . (Best-sounding too.) Clifford and James Hoare attacked their guitars in a furious jangle -- The Wedding Present by way of New Zealand [...]

If "graveyard-pop" was a legitimate genre, British band VERONICA FALLS wouldn't be so hard to classify. Their self-titled debut, which came out last fall on Slumberland Records, flaunts a wide array... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

Brilliant Colors Album: Again and Again (Buy) Label: Slumberland Records Brilliant Colors - Hey Dan Tweet
Hey ho, everyone. I'm scrambling to get reviews out before the school year begins and the holiday season cranks up. Been traveling, so, I'm a little behind the curve. A few of these have been out for a while, so apologies to those who have seen any of these records reviewed elsewhere. We do our best to cover as much stuff as possible, and some things slip through the cracks at times, or sit around for a while waiting for attention. If it's worth a tinker&rsq...

Brilliant Colors Again And Again Slumberland Records [2011] Fire Note Says: Brilliant Colors stick to the formula on sophomore album Again And Again . Album Review: San Francisco's Brilliant Colors take the approach if it ain't broken then don't fix it on their sophomore album Again And Again . The trio brings another fuzzed up pop record to you that once again concludes just as [...]
San Francisco's Brilliant Colors just issued sophomore album Again And Again (Slumberland). Like its 2009 Introducing debut, the 10-track Again And Again was recorded in Portland with Alex Yusimov. Watch the Jess Scott and Kevin McCarthy-directed video for "'Round Your Way" below.
A 12-track sampler of the best stuff Slumberland Records has had to offer in 2011, stretching from the new Brilliant Colors album to the LP Crystal Stilts dropped back in April. Enjoy!
Brilliant Colors - " How Much Younger " Directed by Jess Scott and Kevin McCarthy via Emmanuel More Info - Slumberland
Indie at the heights of its mediocrity, Brilliant Colors' sophomore album Again and Again is musically nondescript. Great as background music, the album suffers from a lack of alertness – there is no life, so to speak. Lively instrumentals pervade the album, particularly on "Back to the Tricks", but vocals that lack "punch" detract from the album as a whole. The set begins with "Hey Dan", a perky little number reminiscent of early Belle and Sebastian, but without drive. Lo-fi without seeming intentionally so, the band moves on to "How Much Younger", where the breathy vocals are somewhat [...]

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars A few years back, when all of your favorite bands were releasing their debut albums, so was Brilliant Colors . Except whereas other bands from Slumberland Records , The Pains of Being Pure at Heart , were getting their jump to the buzzband title, this band remained relatively unknown. They put out their first release, Introducing, and while receiving decent reviews, it failed to make the same jump to popularity as the other bands of the time. Now, [...]
