Aylardan Eylül olmalı, günün ertesine eklenen yeni bir gün, sakin bir Ege sahil kasabında güneş batmak üzereyken denizden gelen o tarifsiz koku, yüreğinde bir yerlere takılmanın verdiği o garip duygu. Aslında her gidiş, hiç gelmeyiş olabilir mi diye düşünürsün kendi kendine. Sorgularsın kim acaba o gözlerdeki yabancı? Hani Can Baba diyor ya "Seninle Olmanın En Güzel Yanı"ne diye. Öyle birşey işte. “Seninle olmanın en güzel yanı ne biliyor musun? Elin elime değmeden avuçlarımı [...]
Typing this as I wolf down the microwaved leftover spag bol I made last night. Who'd have thought that the band I wrote about 3 years ago would play a gig in Leeds tonight??? I must say it is quite unfortunate that Margaret Thatcher happened to pass away on the night Brilliant Colors were playing. [Brilliant Colors - English Cities] The place was packed like NYE was here early, the gig was made free entry, 2 bands that I have been meaning to catch live pulled out at the very last minute (ie. Menace Beach (featuring members from other awesome Leeds bands [...]

Veronica Falls, Golden Grrrls and Brilliant Colors at the Tractor, Seattle | 21 March 2013 The Spring-time Slumberland traveling show stopped in Seattle last Thursday night. Veroncia Falls from London were the headliners and for good reason, their second album is no sophomore slump and adds some diversity by varying the tempos and adding a little more nuance in the form of some good old fashioned psychedelia to their jangling flying nun influenced pop. [...]

I've mentioned the awesomeness of the Former Bullies YouTube page before, but they've been quiet for a wee while recently, so I was rather pleased to see something new crop up in my Tumblr feed. I have no idea who the fuck Secret Admirer are, and they are proving relatively resistant to cursory Googling, but if there is a rule of thumb on the internet* it is that if Former Bullies want to make a video of your band, then your band must be good. The musical style will be familiar to all who [...]
songbytoad : Another great video by Former Bullies, this time for the band Brilliant Colors. Great tune too. formerbullies : BRILLIANT COLORS - ‘VALUE LINES’ I made a video for the great San Francisco based band, Brilliant Colors, it’s a song from the second record “Again and Again’, released and available still on Slumberland. Animations and all round vibes from http://alex-lucy.tumblr.com/ - super cool check it out! [...]

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a person in possession of a band must be in want of great hair. Last Friday night at the Rickshaw Stop , which featured four sets of fuzzy guitars, was no exception. Unfortunately I missed Lilac ’s set, but I did catch the band’s frontman, Will Ivy, who recently moved down to Los Angeles after six years in the Bay Area. But don’t weep: Half the band is still in San Francisco, so hopefully that means they’ll keep playing shows up here every once in [...]

Date : Friday, February 24th Number of Noise Pop Shows : 10 shows, 38 bands Already Sold-Out : Despite the fact that Two Gallants are playing two nights at Edinburgh Castle , both are sold out, as is Wye Oak , Bob Mould, and Jolie Holland. The return of Bay Area indie-pop band Imperial Teen this year has been met with lots of excitement, as their Cafe du Nord show will also be out of reach, [...]
For the last 20 years, the good folks of Noise Pop have turned a single show at Kennel Club (now known as The Independent) into a huge, weeklong festival that causes Bay Area music nerds to clear their calendar every year. In recent years, the fest has expanded beyond music- we have movies, craft fairs, [...]

Frank Yang Just so we're clear, I am not stalking Veronica Falls . It's pure coincidence that I've seen the London-based band three times in the past year in three different countries - America , Canada , and Iceland - on two different continents. Really. Okay, it's not as though I was running into them on the street while they were playing - their self-titled debut was one of my favourites of last year (and barely missed my year-end list) so when the opportunity to see them live [...]

photos by Amanda Hatfield , words by Bill Pearis Veronica Falls @ Music Hall of Williamsburg The last time Veronica Falls were in town, singer Roxanne Clifford was under-the-weather, making for somewhat subdued performances. Thursday (2/9), though, the band were in fine health and form, the best I've seen since Popfest 2010 . (Best-sounding too.) Clifford and James Hoare attacked their guitars in a furious jangle -- The Wedding Present by way of New Zealand [...]

If “graveyard-pop” was a legitimate genre, British band VERONICA FALLS wouldn’t be so hard to classify. Their self-titled debut, which came out last fall on Slumberland Records, flaunts a wide array... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .
