Britt Daniel and Dan Boeckner's Divine Fits stopped by Conan last night to perform their two new singles, “Chained to Love” and "Ain't That the Way". Picking up where last year's Top Star-earning A Thing Called Divine Fits left off, the new material burns even brighter when supported by really expensive, super duper studio lights - and one happy Coco. Catch it below. Both songs are now available digitally (iTunes, Amazon , etc.) with a 123 version of the double A-sided single due out July 23rd via Merge. [...]
Saturday at Sasquatch! boasts mellow vibes and ethereal moments.

Britt Daniel is a busy man. When he's not fronting Spoon or playing in Divine Fits, he is also keeping busy with yet another band: Split Single . The band is a trio that includes Daniel (on bass), along with Jason Narducy (guitar, he's in Bob Mould's band) and Jon Wurster (who drums in the Mountain Goats). Their motto is "three guys, one mic. Jist like Elvis and Yes recorded." Split Single have kicked things off by releasing a few singles, as ever appropriate as that is. The songs are titled "Fragmented World", "Waiting for the Sun", [...]

Divine Fits transcended supergroup status almost as soon as they formed. Chalk it up to releasing one of the best albums of last year and slowly building a killer live show. After last month's victory run through Austin's SXSW, the quartet is hitting the road once more , despite some of the band members being busy with their own non-side projects. For this new leg, fans can expect to hear tracks from A Thing Called Divine Fits , a handful of covers, and even some new cuts, which the Fits hope to release soon. [...]

Britt Daniel has been all over Stereogum this week. We stopped calling Divine Fits his other band when they performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and took a long hard look at Spoon's discography for our most recent Counting Down . We were already aware that Daniel was in another band Split Single - although then they were replacing the Is with colons - and now some of their music is available for us to listen to. As we reported last summer, the group is led by Verbow [...]

If you recall, last summer we hipped you to Britt Daniel' s other new band: Spl:t S:ngle. Similar to his work with Divine Fits, Daniels also slings on the bass here, only alongside other busybody musicians such as drummer Jon Wurster (Superchunk, Mountain Goats) and vocalist Jason Narducy (Verbow, Guided By Voices, Telekinesis). At the time of the project's announcement, it was revealed that the trio had recorded 13 songs. Now, seven months later and after a quick (and very necessary) name tweak to Split Single , three of those tracks have [...]

Divine Fits' Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner, and Sam Brown are back on the road in support of last year's A Thing Called Divine Fits . Last night, the all-star trio hit the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! and performed two songs: "Like Ice Cream" and a cover of Tom Petty's "You Got Lucky". Replay both performances below. Here's the band's upcoming tour schedule, which is super heavy on music festivals: Divine Fits 2013 Tour Dates: 04/02 - [...]

Hey, uh, Britt? Are you going to eat that maraschino cherry? 'Cause if not . . . I think pretty much everything Britt Daniel touches is gold. (I mean that in the "quality" sense, not necessarily "gold record" sense, although I haven't checked, so maybe Spoon's recent records really have gone gold.) In any case, I'll confess, I'm biased. So I had a feeling his new band project, Divine Fits (also featuring members of the New Bomb Turks and Wolf Parade), would be very not uncool. And sure enough, their album A Thing [...]

While Friday night everywhere is about going to parties and getting too inebriated to accurately recall the course of the evening, that sense of hedonism always gets heightened when you're at South by Southwest . But while a huge chunk of ATX was chugging $11 beers and hitting that most wacky of tobaccy, Consequence of Sound was indulging in its own solitary drug of choice: music. Based on some of our choices, from a mid-'90s Southern rapper sensation to a riotous English psych-punk band, you might think we were the one's on drugs. But really, we just happened to find [...]
The Star 's music blog Back to Rockville reported/announced today that Middle of the Map has added a second wave of bands to its lineup. The big one is Divine Fits , the new band fronted by Spoon's Britt Daniel that released a weirdly underrated album, A Thing Called Divine Fits , last year.… [ Read more ] [ Subscribe to the comments on this story ]

Bruce Springsteen's " Hungry Heart " is one of those songs that will continue to turn arenas into pits of ecstasy until long after we're all dead. When I saw Springsteen a couple of months ago, he played that song second, stage-dove during it, and then played for another three hours. That guy! In a recent session for the Australian radio network Triple J, the Britt Daniel/Dan Boeckner/Sam Brown supergroup Divine Fits played their version of the song, stripping it down to acoustic instruments (plus one electronic doohickey). Daniel's vocal suited the song surprisingly well, and I like how Brown's [...]

Divine Fits show an appreciation for Bruce Springsteen. Divine Fits , the indie supergroup featuring Britt Daniel and Dan Boeckner , are currently touring Australia. Later today and tomorrow they'll be playing Adelaide and Perth as part of the Laneway festival, touring in support of their debut album,
Cougar writer Nicole offers her top ten albums for our Top albums of 2012 feature. Divine Fits -'A Thing Called Divine Fits' Slick, straight forward rock n' roll with a vaguely new wave vibe. This collaboration between Britt Daniel (Spoon) and Dan Boeckner (Handsome Furs) is too cool for school. Case in point, when delivering [...] The post Cougar Microbes Writers Picks 2012: Nicole appeared first on Cougar Microbes .

Bands like Passion Pit deserve accolades and acknowledgement for their ability to turn something complex into infectious pop gold. It is so easy for 4 synthesizers playing their own melodies to become muddled as they fight for your ears' attention. Spoon , however, earns its accolades and acknowledgement with painstaking minimalism, as is apparent on Kill The Moonlight . Armed with one of the most unique voices in music, Spoon, was looking forward with their follow-up to Girls Can Tell . Many conceded the prowess of the band's breakthrough record, but given previous efforts' [...]

Last November, Dave Grohl, Ryan Adams, Britt Daniel, and more played a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in tribute of Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould . Armed with footage courtesy of filmmaker/director Justin Mitchell (Azealia Banks' "19913, Kid Cudi's "Maniac" short film), Mould has now launched a Kickstarter to fund a feature-length film documenting that special evening. According to the campaign, Mould is trying to reach a goal of $95,0000 for "future fees that are necessary to bring this film to completion: editing, production, union costs, location fees, bandwidth, packaging, shipping and more."
