Flanking a large projection screen and in nearly complete darkness, the two members of Broadcast shrouded themselves in anonymity as blurred and distorted transmissions and memories surfaced, faded and washed over the visual centerpiece. Images and patterns both psychedelic and contemporary accompanied the murky and atmospheric music they created from the sidelines. As if scanning the skies with a satellite searching for the right frequency, squelches and squiggles of noise and static ebbed and waned from the ether and then summoned by the masterful skills of James Cargill, finally created sensual textures for which Trish Keenan's [...]
A title like Investigate the Witch Cults of the Radio Age seems full of dark and decadent promise and quite frankly just the type of thing we've come to love about Broadcast. Still, though the album might not conjure the haunted blood trials of The Liars' foray into the occult, it does act as one of the greatest distillations of the duo's post BBC Radiophonic Workshop obsessions and their experimental psych-pop hangovers. Trish Keenan's voice still hangs lost in time, somewhere between Dorothy Moskowitz of The US of A and lost Stereolab b-sides. With the aid of Ghost [...]
One very nice bi product of this digital age is that artists can put out material in an instant. Broadcasts new EP popped up on Bleep last week with no prior warning, it's a collaborative effort with Julian House of The Focus Group (He's been responsible for all of Broadcasts artwork to date). They are preparing to release a full length record in the new year and they also have a load of your dates planned stateside. Go see them you lucky yanks. Broadcast and the Focus Group- The Be [...]
Broadcast , in some ways, seem to have followed rather stridently along a solid trajectory. The group started as a quartet firmly planted in haunting '60s vocal pop and garage ballads, augmented by lightly arranged vintage atomic age samples and Trish Keenan's silky and distant vocals. The latter was, of course, the only thing that ever remained consistent, as Broadcast became more divergent through the years, ending with 2005's glitchy, noisy, electronics-heavy and cosmically surreal Tender Buttons . Perhaps it as simply a new direction or the influence of Julian House from The Focus Group [...]
Ok, while they aren't exactly investigating, Broadcast are prepping the release of their next full-length by releasing a mini-album collaboration with The Focus Group dubbed Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age . The album, which is currently available digitally, will be released on vinyl and the nearly obsolete compact disc format on October 26th. However, fans who plan on catching Broadcast's flourescent darkness live on tour with Atlas Sound and the Selmanaires will be able to purchase the record at upcoming gigs. Like blowing bubbles, [...]

Broadcast and The Focus Group "Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age" Review
At times the sound is studio-clean and at others it sounds as if it was recorded on a home cassette player. At its worst it's pretentious art school music. At its best it's like stepping into someone else's fantastically grotesque dream.

Broadcast and The Focus Group
Or to give it the full title Broadcast And The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults Of The Radio Age. The new Broadcast album isn't really the new Broadcast album. It was 2005 since we last heard from Trish Keenan and James Cargill, and their fourth 'proper' long-player arrives next year. But ...
