Wow, what a bang-a-lang week for new releases! For reals; it's almost difficult to know where to start. This week's new releases is like a never-ending gravy train of kick-ass music from a spectacular line-up of artists. And just in time as the first signs of spring begin to spread across the northern hemisphere. The [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
Broken Bells are back to nouveau good on their latest four song EP.

Lots going on this week, so let's get into it. Since we already mentioned Radiohead's album over a month ago , our main focus this week is on Peter Bjorn & John' s latest album Gimme Some . Their song "Song Chance" below is all over the place, and it should be. It looks like they've sucured themselves a track that will take over "Young Folks". More this week from The Pains of Being Pure At Heart (take deep breath then continue sentence). Whew. The indie pop group from [...]

Brian Burton may be one of the best producers to live. Name doesn't ring a bell? That's because you probably know him better by his more famous monker: Danger Mouse. Over the last decade Brian has been one of the most pivotal figures in the indie music world, but also one of the most overlooked. In anticipation of his upcoming Rome project, and in celebration of the Producer of the Year Grammy he won last night for his work on Broken Bells, we highlight his best work to date. [...]

Perhaps you recognize him by his more famous moniker: Danger Mouse. So, in anticipation of his upcoming Rome project, and in celebration of the Producer of the Year Grammy he won last night for his work on Broken Bells, we highlight his best work to date. #10 : Danger Doom - The Mask "; [...]

The first album from Broken Bells (the side-project of Danger Mouse and The Shins' James Mercer), was released last year and gained the band an instant following. The album's best singles, October , The Ghost Inside and The High Road stood out as some of the best songs of 2010, and with this new EP, Broken Bells have clearly decided to build upon that success - if bringing little new to the table. Initially, Meyrin Fields sounds a little different to the self-titled [...]

Heartless Empire New track has surfaced from Broken Bells' upcoming EP Meyrin Fields. These songs were leftovers during the recording of their debut album. Too good to be B-sides we are about to get a EP with a few great sounding tracks. For one... check out the reverb drenched 'Heartless Empire' due to be on the upcoming (3/29) EP.
One of our all-time favorite mood music bands Undersea Poem have released an 8-track EP without telling anyone. When James Mercer and Danger Mouse revealed that their EP Meyrin Fields was recorded at the same time as their self-titled debut, they had claimed the songs did not have the same feel as the album, but were too good to be B-sides. That seems to be an understatement. After hearing first track " Windows ," a new track has surfaced, "Heartless Empire," that sounds nothing like any past Broken Bells songs. Spring is now less than one week away, and I think I speak for most of our readers when I say: Hooray. Those of us in the Northeast and Midwest in particular have spent the last three months buried beneath God's fluffy white vomit, only to emerge to sunny skies and chirping birds in the last week. Spring is a time that excites us all because of the fullness of the air, saturated with life, romance, and pollen. And of course music. The winter of 2011 has been something of desolate tundra when it comes to new music. [...]

Another song from the upcoming Broken Bells EP Meyrin Fields has surfaced! I am starting to understand why these four songs weren't included on the full album. They really don't fit the vibe of the album at all, but not in a bad way. "Heartless Empire" is a bit more chipper and a little rough around the edges than what we've heard in the past. Now that we're halfway into what's on the EP, what say you about this direction? I'm rather enjoying this slightly different direction. I don't think I prefer it [...]

Broken Bells - composed of Danger Mouse and the Shins' James Mercer - will release their four-track EP, Meyrin Fields , later this month, including the first leak, "Windows." Originally recorded during the Broken Bells sessions, the tracks aren't leftovers, but said to be ones that may not have fit alongside the original material. Still, receiving "Windows" remains a consolation prize for having missed the chance to speak with Mouse at Monday's show . Broken Bells - "Windows" [NPR]

As Broken Bells ( Shins frontman James Mercer & Gnarls Barkley mastermind Danger Mouse) ready their new EP Meyrin Fields for release later this March, the band has released 2 new tracks into the wild that is the Internet. Apparently both tracks were originally recorded for the band's first LP Broken Bells , however in the end they didn't mesh well with the other tracks. While I wasn't overly thrilled with that album, these songs have me excited. They remind me of the better Gorillaz songs (ie Superfast Jellyfish , [...]

On March 29th, Broken Bells (aka James Mercer and Danger Mouse) will release their Meyrin Fields EP, which serves as a follow-up to last year's self-titled debut. Apparently, the four tracks on the EP were recorded at the same as the full-length, but they must not have fit in well with the other material. Regardless, we have "Windows" and the title track "Meyrin Fields" for you to check out. Currently, you can pre-order the Meyrin Fields EP here . LISTEN :: [...]
