One way Bruce Springsteen keeps his live shows interesting after so many years is by playing song requests fans hold up on hand written signs. On his gig Wednesday (May 8th) in Finland, a Belgian fan named Nicholas raised a piece of cardboard with "Wages of Sin" scrawled across it. The track stems from the Born in the U.S.A. sessions, but wasn't released until 19982s Tracks. Springsteen and the E Street Band had never played the song live, but thanks to Nicholas, the whole world can see its debut. [...]

Past editions of Brazil's Rock in Rio music festival have drawn upward of 1.5 million people, and this year's lineup should do little to curb enthusiasm. As if 2013 wasn't already off to an amazing start, now The Strokes have jumped into the action by announcing a new single and album! That's the main headline on today's Rock it Out! Blog. Sami also discusses the lineup for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, how Protest the Hero fans are paying for their next album, the title of Phoenix's album, and Tom Morello's role in Bruce Springsteen's upcoming tour. Make sure to follow Rock it Out! Blog on Twitter and Facebook , and subscribe to its YouTube channel .

Tom Morello has frequently joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on their latest world tour, often playing guitar for performances of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and "Death to My Hometown". Morello's role in the band is about to increase, however, as he's been tapped to replace guitarist Steve Van Zandt for the band's upcoming Australian leg. Commitments to his television show Lilyhammer will force Van Zandt to miss the nine Australian shows scheduled in March. He'll return to the band in time for their European leg, but until [...]

This past year, I finally put my eyes to the test, armed myself with a semi-expensive camera, and hit the photo pits. Now, I had previously wiggled my way up to the front of the crowds with a point-and-shoot in our early days, but I'd never really attempted to put myself in the shoes of a professional photographer. Within five minutes, I realized how stressful and yet how thrilling the position can be. There's a sense of community that photographers have that writers never really will. While some express lens-envy, and yeah it's really ridiculous and uber-showy, most [...]

My folks are spending a couple of months in Rottingdean down on the South coast, and after the Meursault, Rob St. John and Withered Hand gig at the Islington Assembly Hall in London on Tuesday I have come down to spend a few days with them, before pootling on back to Edinburgh tomorrow. This may not excuse but most certainly does explain the fact that the blog has been slightly more erratic than usual this week. I've squeezed in posts where I can, but parents don't take all that kindly to you spending your entire visit buggering about [...]

Wow! I wasn't expected to go to this concert on October 19th. It was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band playing at Scotiabank Place . This was my first time seeing "The Boss" live in concert. I was totally blown away with this concert. Bruce put on a high energetic show! There was a lot of songs I wasn't familiar with. He sang a nice acoustic song "Queen of the Supermarket" which a fan made a poster and requested for him to play. [...]

Pavement - "Summer Babe (Winter Version)" Slanted and Enchanted , 1992 Pavement were never dressed for success. On Slanted and Enchanted , they sounded like they haven’t done laundry in years. Even now it’s hard to tell whether ”Summer Babe (Winter Version)” is a ne’er-do-well savant stroke of genius or a calculated masterpiece disguised in ripped acid-washed jeans. But it’s proof that three [...]
