Martin Brodin - Don't Stop the Dance (2013) Malmö based Martin Brodin returns with a stunning modern disco remake of Bryan Ferry's classic. Everything in this version sounds superfresh, the bacing vocals, the electric guitar, the police syrens and Mikael Surdi's vocal interoperation of Bryan. The video brings together some scenes from the classic American Documentary Paris is Burning (1990) that explored New York 's gay balls, dance music scene, gender, race and class issues of mid-80s. This time he discofies Bryan Ferry's classic "Don't stop the dance", together with Mikael Surdi on vocals. To put it in Martin's own words: Oh yeah !

Superamazing Amy Winehouse cover by Bryan Ferry , taken from his recent album, The Jazz Age .
The Gatsby soundtrack provides a glimpse into the atmosphere of the upcoming film. Take me back to the Roaring '20s! It's time for a new film adaptation of the The Great Gatsby, old sport, and with it comes a soundtrack executive produced by Jay-Z. Being the fifth visual rendition of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most famous novel, the story of The Great Gatsby is familiar to most. However, the 2013 version of the film has the big names behind it and a big budget to ensure that it brings the ostentatious world of Jay Gatsby to...

The concept of the covers record is, in itself, an inherently disorienting experience as once cherished songs are heaved, hoed and traditionally hauled out of the cozy comfort zone that familiarity so often incurs within the musical world. Though to hear Buzz Osborne's sludge mongers the Melvins shred their cruddy way through a couple minutes of Black Betty which sound as though the sonic equivalent to the exhumed entrails of Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter himself dusted down and swung overhead to exude a blackened, gritty blend of fetid blood and granular dirt, is positively dizzying as the Afro-American [...]

The number of talented producers coming from Germany is really impressive... In the genre of soft and chill house, that's probably the most interesting scene. One of these producers I discovered recently is Rampue , from Berlin. He released his debut album in 2006, and came back in 2012 with "Sonne, Park & Sonni". He just released an EP called "Mama Was A Progrocker", that is labeled as emo-house. These 4 tracks are a good mix of nu-disco and deep house, with a good use of vocal samples. My favorite is probably "Katz Und Maus", which uses vocal samples from Feist. [...]

O'Connor is just one of many Irish acts that have been announced, and the full [...]
Filed under: Exclusive , Spinner Says AP, Facebook Yesterday a new trailer for " The Great Gatsby " debuted along with the track and artist listing for the film's much-hyped soundtrack, which of course is executive produced by Jay-Z . Besides wondering why Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't have a pencil-thin "Gatsby mustache," the biggest question stems from an eclectic, all-star collection of new songs and covers. And, that question is why? "A [...]

As we reported earlier this year, Jay-Z had a large hand in the music component of the upcoming Baz Lurhmann's film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby . The tracklist for the soundtrack, which Jay executive produced, has been revealed and includes an eclectic array of artists. On the theme of the music, Lurhmann says , "While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, 'the Jazz Age,' and this is the period represented on screen, we - our audience - are living in 'the Hip-Hop Age' and want our viewers to feel the impact of [...]

The soundtrack to The Great Gatsby reboot is already something of legend thanks in part to an executive producer named Jay-Z and a star-studed cover of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" by Beyoncé and André 3000. Today, the full tracklist for the soundtrack was revealed, and other contributing artists include Jack White, The xx, Florence and the Machine, Bryan Ferry, and King HOV himself. Jay-Z opens the soundtrack with a brand new track titled "100$ Bill", which is followed by the "Back to Black" cover. Both Florence and the Machine and The [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Press Here Throughout his career, Bryan Ferry has always epitomized a sense of style, cool and sophistication both in his music and onstage persona. With the legendary Roxy Music , the British vocalist produced an influential body of work from 1972's self-titled debut record to 1982's Avalon . In addition to his role as the leader of Roxy Music, Ferry maintained a solo career [...]

Here's an intriguing, but frustratingly short, excerpt from a 1977 documentary about Roxy Music fans entitled Roxette . As the description says, "Extract from a student documentary profiling young Roxy Music fans. In the full film fans talk about the band and the music, are seen out and about in Manchester and getting ready for a concert at the Opera House. Includes footage of a tribute band, who due to a lack of musical instruments use household appliances to make music." Apologies to [...]
