I think we need a little tilt after yesterday's goodhearted jam. How about some lo-fi, analog synth murkiness that seems inspired by bad dreams and worse drugs. This is pop music in the kingdom of Ariel Pink. Thanks to Team Songblague member Ali Hammer for hipping me to it. I think it adds a nice spice to the holiday season. Like most kids, I had quite a few favorite movies I could watch over and over and never get tired of. "Who's That Girl" starring Madonna was definitely one of them. Most weekends my mom would take me and my sister to the video store and let us each pick a movie. For a long time I always chose "Who's That Girl" while my sister went with "Moonwalk". I was a rabid Madonna fan and she worshiped Michael Jackson so to us it was pretty much perfect. Our mom probably got tired of those [...]
This should get your shoulders shimmying and your hair spraying. The Bubonic Plague is dark, eyeliner-wearing synth rock the way it's supposed to be: sedate and trashy. This is the kind of stuff that soundtracks culture-conscious B movies from the 80s--preferably ones with really cheesy sci-fi plots. Just take a listen and put it on your next "goth rock" mixtape. Harvested the first of this season's tangerines today. They are so outrageously organically sweet & succulent, eating one is almost as good as eating some pussy. I said almost! They're like a burst of sunlight. Right now I'm also in the process of getting the winter crop fava beans in, I'm still working on their trellises. Favas (really a vetch, not a bean, but classified as a legume) loosen the soil about two feet down & draw nutrients from as deep as ten feet. Plus they fix about 200 pounds of nitrogen per acre (enough for the most demanding spring [...]

I have longed dreamed of being in the business of professional band-naming. Another is graced with epiphanies of rock-naming: Geneva Jacuzzi or real name: Geneva Garvin or Sex Carpet or Hot Pajamas or Pregnant another gem from Human Ear Music Geneva Jacuzzi - Eskimo (and also a member in Bubonic Plague) Bubonic Plague - Nonsense nonsense
