How the hell did I not think this one up? Bordeaux has been making my melancholy music since the last half of 2012 and if you know anything about this blog, you know how much we love disco. And yet somehow I didn't complain that the two haven't gotten together yet - I usually do it so well. Well, no need to complain now. Bordeaux brings a sombre touch to this flashy, nu disco movement and the only gripe I got with it is that I didn't think to pair up the two first. [...]

Charles Bordeaux was a top contender in 2012 here with two singles off his Fables EP, The Sandman & Blood Pacts I (The Weeds) . The rest of his Fables album is mostly a mix of instrumentals that, although produced just as beautifully, lacks the story I look for in any Bordeaux track. There is, however, one other story-made track on Fables . 'The Forst and the Moon' is a synth-carrying story that's told as delicately as the rest. Follow the song with the lyrics below, makes [...]

The Oklahoma Film & Music Office (OF&MO) has announced its plans for the 2013 South by Southwest Music Conference (SXSW) that will take place in Austin, Texas March 11, 12 & 13. Oklahoma's Buffalo Lounge , located at The 512, 408 E 6th Street (6th & Trinity), provides the state with its own venue, hosting three days of film, interactive, and music events. The goal is to provide exposure for participating Oklahoma companies and talent to a global audience. OklahomaRock.com will publish a running list [...]

Solidisco continues to push out nothing but the best in this nu era of disco. 'Gotta Have It' offers up the usual catchy, soulful vocals with funky-ass beats to get groovy to. However, the one thing I'm not feelin is the electro-house-like edits made to the track, but what's nu disco if not house goin back to its disco roots. Plus, I have nothing "real" to complain about so I'm just searching for something. The intro sounds like Gangnam Style, by the way. Solidisco Style: Disco House [...]

Still celebrating their Mercury Prize win, Alt-J feature with this track on the soundtrack to Silver Linings Playbook, the new film with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (pictured). Buffalo is as beautiful as the two leading actors - all finger-picking guitars and gently lilting atmospherics. The opening guitar line does sound just like Daughter though and as a whole, it doesn't quite have the magnetic appeal of their best tracks from ' An Awesome Wave '. Still, Buffalo proves the band are more than the usual indie landfill providing [...]
It's time again to check out the recently released singles. Here are some new songs from Veronica Falls, Alt-J and Zola Jesus. Teenage is a song from Veronica Falls' upcoming album, Waiting for Something to Happen, which is expected out in February. Alt-J's song Buffalo appears in the movie, Silver Linings Playbook and features the folk band Mountain Man . Finally, Zola Jesus covers Rihanna !

Words: Saam Das Pugnacious director David O Russell returns to the big screen after 2010's boxing drama 'The Fighter' . His latest offering, 'Silver Linings Playbook' is a romantic comedy-drama, starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence , out today in UK cinemas. Recent Mercury Music Prize victors Alt-J have slotted a new track into the film's soundtrack - listen to 'Buffalo' below. While the band's appearance [...]

So, it's not even been a month since alt-J won the Mercury Prize and they've already contributed a song to a tooty fruit rom-com. They've changed haven't they? No, of course they haven't. Silly. 'Buffalo', which includes Mountain Man, can be found on the new Bradley Cooper 'vehicle' Silver Lining Playbook, which according to some very poor internet research of mine is abit like Remember The Titans but with clouds rather than humans. Good stuff. Listen to 'Buffalo' below.

“You are the music while the music lasts.” -T.S. Eliot Alt-J feat. Mountain Man - "Buffalo" Fresh off their Mercury Prize win , British quartet Alt-J will be getting even more exposure courtesy of "Buffalo", a track that will be featured on the soundtrack to David O. Russell's indie drama Silver Linings Playbook . Working with background vocals by Vermont folkies Mountain Man , the track floats along to tiny guitar plucks and Joe Newman's wistful pipes. His voice lingers on calming tones [...]
alt-J are one of those bands that somehow come from left-field and suddenly do something unexpected like, oh I dunno, win the Mercury Prize. Now there have been some pretty damn fine winners over the years - PJ Harvey and Portishead, anyone? - and the less good artists that have won have managed to at least be successful, like M People, or the actively awful Primal Scream. alt-J are up there with Roni Size as a "What? Eh?" winner 1 , and it would be remiss of me to not have a bit of a listen. [...]

The soundtrack for the upcoming film Silver Linings Playbook has a stunning mix with Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Alabama Shakes, Eagles of Death Metal , and Alt-J . The latter is a British art-rock band. The group of Literature and Fine Arts majors founded the band in 2007 at Leeds University. Holding jam sessions in their dorm rooms and all open hallucinogen enthusiasts, ∆ (pronounced Alt-J) consists of Gwil Sainsbury on bass guitar, Joe Newman for vocals and guitar, keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton and Thom Green keeps the tempo on drums. Their September debut, [...]
Visit Indie Shuffle to download. Song: Alt-J - Buffalo (Ft. Mountain Man) [download here ] What's so good? It sure seems like movie soundtracks are getting a whole lot more savvy when it comes to fresh, new artists. For example, we just featured two [...]
It seems all too good for the recently exploding indie band Alt-J . With their killer album An Awesome Wave out and about, they have been snatching fans left and right. Many already wonder when their next album will be and what direction their music will take. Suddenly, they casually tossed us a bone. "Buffalo", they claimed, is a new track of theirs that will be in the movie "Silver Linings Playbook" . The track is hauntingly good, as singers from indie band Mountain Man act as backup vocals, enhancing the overall experience we get. It's [...]

Hot on the heels of winning the much deserved Mercury Music Prize just a couple of weeks ago, Walrus favourites Alt-J are back with new material for upcoming movie Silver Linings Playbook in the form of Buffalo . It's slow, soft and delicate with Vermont based folk group, Mountain Man, helping out with some backing vocals, but accentuated with Alt-J's staccato rhythm section and groove. Alt-J - Buffalo was originally published on The Blue Walrus .

The indie-pop foursome Alt-J took the world by storm with their September debut, An Awesome Wave , which recently snagged the esteemed Mercury Prize. For all curious but haven’t yet tried it: if you press alt-J on your keyboard it makes the Greek symbol for change. That’s what the name means. ∆ join Mountain Man (three Vermont folk singers who previously backed Feist ) in this track set to appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming film Silver Lining Playbook . It’s the synthetic, syncopated beats we love from Alt-J, combined with thicker [...]
Alt-J have released the single, "Buffalo", featuring Mountain Man from the original motion picture soundtrack of Silver Linings Playbook. The new song peels away some of the eccentricities of the band 's debut album, An Awesome Wave, which won this year's Mercury prize. The soundtrack to Silver Linings Playbook features [...]
