
The visual and aural aesthetics of music should blend the same. The art of an album should reflect the music, not the musician. Sometimes those two are inseparable; Iggy Pop comes to mind. However, most times when an musician is on the cover of their own album, it says they are more interested in their own fame than the presentation of the music (excluding any blue note albums, of most jazz album really). So whenever you hear the name of Rafter Roberts two things may come to you mind, its ether: A) Ohhhh, or B) WTF. You may be more familiar with Rafter's other works with the band "Bunky" and their awesome album, "Born to be a Motorcycle" where he shared the stage with Emily Joice co-front woman . As are many independent labels, Asthmatic Kitty was brought into being to give a community of artists (in Holland, Michigan) a way to send their music further afield.
