Tweet Can we run a classic album feature on a record that was released just last year? Yes, I can, because it's my birthday. And because it's a great record. It is destined to be classic even if it's not old enough to be called that yet. Somebody needs to clarify that rule for me anyway. All I've been listening to today is Four Tet's There Is Love In You . From the chopped up vocal bliss of Angel Echoes through [...]

Theodor Introducing Burial & Four Tet + Aebeloe Okay, I'v been away from the blog the last couple of months, beeing busy with everything and nothing. I will try to keep the post comming more often from now on. First of all, I'v been a big Burial fan for a long time, but i simply [...] Burial/Four Tet & Aebeloe is a post from: FAT BERRI'S | Electronic Music Blog

If you've been wondering why there was no weekend round-up this week, or wondering why there's been such a lack of updates from me over the past few days - at least part of the reason is directly to do with Reading Festival having taken place over last weekend, and my absolute adoration for the selection of bands on this year's festival line-up. Obviously I didn't go anywhere near GnR, and avoided Blink 182 on the final night - but aside from The Arcade Fire, the main talent at this year's festival lay beyond the veil of televised live music, on [...]

so. im back. and do you think im happy about that? NO. whilst i try to keep myself from sobbing at the thought of being back in the land of the bogan, please enjoy these amazing new(ish) tracks by my hero-of-the-moment, mr kieran hebden (aka four tet ).. he is probably the only thing between me and taxi-driver styled violence right now. the restrained, elegant landscape of 'moth' is an absolute stand-out. burial 's attention to each reverby detail, coupled with such a strong melodic backbone make this wintery slow-burner [...]

Four Tet has released his first album since 2005, entitled "There Is Love In You" on Domino Records . To be frank, i'm blown away by it. He is such a unique and dynamic producer, that it really is hard to place him in any one genre. His ability to manipulate vocal samples, and his atmospheric textures are nothing short of amazing. Already receiving critical claim from all the major reviewers, this might be one of the stand out albums of 2010. Below are some of my favorite tracks from the album. You can purchase the whole CD here [...]

I suppose if indie rock taught us anything it's that a vigorous taxonomic assault on dubstep is inevitable. Seems like things are moving pretty fast for a genre that just recently emerged from UK garage (or was that speed garage? no wait, grime? 2-step? jungle? bassline? d&b? dub? whatever). Call it what you want, this song is face melter. Download audio file [...]

( I made this and I approve of the lens flare ) I never really understood why some blogs and music sites put their "best of" lists out before the year was actually over, that might help explain why our Best of 2009 post is coming a bit after the new year. That and waiting on Kid Color to get his list finished (jokin'). But seriously, this past year doesn't really need any kind of special recap, it was just a good year for music. From remixes to albums, there was much to celebrate in our community. I [...]

After some conversations with friends about dubstep recently, I thought I'd put up some tunes from last year to serve as a catchup/beginners guide to the genre and its surrounds. I'm by no means an expert but over the next two pages you'll find my favourites from Burial, Zomby, Joker, Peverelist, Benga, Skream, Samiyam, Darkstar, 2000F, Joy Orbison, King Midas Sound, Kode 9, Guido and more. Please put your own must-listens in the comments. Burial (with Four Tet) Enigmatic dubstepper Burial and electronic experimentaller Four Tet combined on a [...]

Yesterday I was walking through a shopping mall and as I passed by the Parasuco store I was amazed as I heard Dubstep pounding out of the store speakers and into the mall concourse.... it occured to me at that point that there probably wasn't a bigger hit in 2009 than the anthem "In For The Kill (Skream Remix)". Needless to say it was a big year for Dubstep as the genre exploded onto the world stage. Here in Toronto we were spoiled with headliner after headliner. Promo companies like Embrace & 40 hz were busy bringing most [...]

Just a couple of weeks ago North Highlands released their debut EP Sugar Lips , a record with a soothingly sweet blend of indie pop, folk, and psychedelic sounds. We haven't yet gotten around to posting on the EP, the onslaught of the holiday season and all this list making have left us with little time and a little too weary to write much on any new music, but hopefully you guys will all head on over to the iTunes store after checking out their song "Collar Bones" below. Mike Barron who helms [...]
10. Meursault - Nothing Broke EP The follow up to one of my favourite albums of 2008 Pissing on Bonfires/Kissing with Tongues , the March-released Song, By Toad records Nothing Broke EP is a calm and collected 4-track reminder that Meursault haven't disappeared off the folk radar entirely. They've just released William Henry Miller singles , with a couple of re-recorded versions on a see-through vinyl, which you can purchase straight from Edinburgh through the Song, By Toad store [...]

Selección perfecta para un martes?! Algo de stuff by Golden Filter, Memory Tapes, Chris Price y Jesse Jams, serían perfectas compañeras de un lunes pero es martes así que olvidenlo anyway el día es solo el pretexto. Enjoy! The Golden Filter - Hide me Soldout - The Last Ride ( [...]

Some dubstep conspiracy theorists claim that Burial (Will Bevan) and Four Tet (Kieran Hebden) are in fact the same person, and this is not unreasonable to believe. They both attended The Elliott School, London (as did three members of Hot Chip) and Burial keeps his identity buried exclusively within the mystery of his music. They both make experimental electronica, each drawing influence from the other, Burial venturing more into ambient dubstep with Four Tet indulging in everything from folktronica to underground dance. To further excite the conspiracy theorists, Radiohead, who have worked with Burial, listed a post [...]

My recent music forays have led towards many different genres that weren't the mainstay of the blog early on. In my humble opinion (IMHO), dubstep and many other more sparse, minimalistic musical stylings are slowly beginning to dominate the electronic music scene. For example, the most impressive nu-disco I was hearing last year was very french/disco house-y with a nice uptempo feel. However, recent trends have even formed the once upbeat genre into a much more minimalistic styling best exemplified by tensnake's lastest EP. Whether or not this all coincides with looming 2012 is perhaps coincidence or maybe not. Here [...]
