Here's the latest creation. It's nothing extremely original, basically just something that's (hopefully) danceable. Lots of chopped of vocals and horns in front of some strong-ish percussion. Kudos to anyone that spots the sample. Burntpiano - Spread the News Download audio file (spread-the-news.mp3)

I just finished up a hip-hop mix for Metal Lungies that you can check out here . The mix features a lot of different gems as well as a tribute to the late Pimp C. From now on, I will be writing for Metal Lungies , though I will still be writing here. The only change you'll see is probably less hip-hop here, so you'll just have to check ML for that. In other news, I just finished up a club remix for the Journey song "Anyway You Want It," which you'll definitely recognize from the [...]

The title of this post really kind of sums everything up, but I will go ahead and elaborate a bit. This is a project that Jerome over at burntpiano has been working on for some time now. He was trying to create a sample heavy mix that could be best described as Girl Talkesque. He wanted to do something that represented the music that he has been listening to lately, but still dabble in the music exposed to us through popular culture. The end result is a fun lengthy mix that combines a number of genres. [...]

This is a product of a lot of late nights in front of a computer screen. I approached this project with the intention of creating a sound collage similar to what Girl Talk or Ludachrist makes. My result is probably a little bit more fast paced; clocking in at only 18 minutes and 20 seconds, it features 64 different (pieces of) songs. I will post the tracklisting tomorrow and probably split it up into different songs for convenience. If you would like a hard copy, contact me by filling out the form [...]
A lot of people these days want to add high quality gun shot sounds to their beats. Here is a sound library I have come across and used. It is the official DJ Whoo Kid gun shot sound library (DJ Whoo Kid is the G-Unit DJ). All these sounds come from Halflife, so I suggest some people step their game up by connecting that Xbox into a computer/sampler/whatever and grabbin' some Halo sounds. It is a .rar file, which needs to be extracted/unzipped. This will be easy if you have a mac, [...]

In the car, on the way to Orange Country for Thanksgiving dinner, I created this. The sample is from some children's choir singing about God. Now, I'm not the most religious person, but I dug the melody and tone of the voices. Also, God talk + gunshots is always fun. Make sure your bass is turned up. Been busy with a lot of projects lately. I have recently discovered the art of proper audio mixing while spending late nights in the CAMS Lab. I've been trying to remaster some of my older pieces that I enjoy. Here are two (right click, save as to download). Fergie - Glamorous (Burntpiano's Island in the Funk Blend) Ya Boy - Holla At Ya Boy (Burntpiano Customization) Bigger project will be posted tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Here's a sampler of a project Jerome at Burntpiano is working on that's real sample heavy with a lot of quick edits (for fans of Girl Talk maybe?). It's more of a party mix, but there are definitely some songs you can vibe out to ( Battles ). He says the final project should be out soon, but for now, here's the first six minutes. Jerome's detailed breakdown of the samples used and mp3 after the jump…

This was one of the first remixes/blends I ever made. Made Michael sound just a bit older, added some Bunnyhug , and a really, really basic beat. [...]

I'm at the IFP Market in New York City right now. Everything has been pretty hectic, but I've learned a lot of cool things and met some really interesting people. Our class has been filming a lot of things, basically just getting ready for the documentary we're gonnna be filming in the net 8 weeks. The picture is a Lamborghini I saw on the streets yesterday. On the plane I made a little disco remix of the The Pack's hit from last summer. The acapella quality wasn't that great but I still think the track [...]

The only bear I saw in Alaska. It's been a while, but I've been busy moving into the new place and messing around with my new mini-studio. Here are three songs I've been messing around with. MP3: Burntpiano - Sept. 3 This song is the result of me finally putting together a "mini-studio." I've got my Technics hooked up to this random keyboard that I can sample from. Then I run all that through a mixer and then through the computer. The weird vocal sample here is [...]

This track is from the mix I did earlier this summer . It's very simply yet still sounds good, in my opinion. It's pretty mixable with all the other "Young Folks" stuff coming out. BPM is 140. Peter Bjorn and John/Spank Rock-Young Folks/IMC (Burntpiano Edit)

It's been a long, long time. But with my Developer's copy of Leopard crashing in about March and not getting fixed until June, I didn't really create anything new. That is until now. I present to you the Sticky Summer Mix. Right Click the Image, Save as Tracklist: Oingo Boingo-Little Girls The B52s-Love Shack Falco-Der Kommissar (Jason [...]
I built the framework for this remix on my flight from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. The people next to me kept giving me weird stared wondering what exactly I was doing. MP3: Spank Rock - Coke and Wet (Burntpiano Remix)
