Busdriver is extending his tour, again. Last year he opened for the likes of Islands and Aceyalone, and this year he's opened for both Deerhoof and RJD2. Now he's riding with CocoRosie for a few days. Does this man ever take a break? And when is he going to get to headline a tour? That's what I want to know. The man deserves it. All remaining tour dates below: 05-03 Portland, OR - Wonder Ballroom 05-04 Seattle, WA - Neumos 05-05 Vancouver, British Columbia - Richard's on Richards 05-07 Philadelphia, [...]

Epitaph hooked us up something awesome today, providing us with an MP3 off Busdriver's new iTunes-only single for Sun Shower that I touched on here . Let me just tell you: Your mother was right – always say please and thank you. The four-song EP has two remixes of Sun Shower , including one by So Much Silence favorite and recent Epitaph signee Cadence Weapon . The other Sun Shower mix, provided below, comes from LA's edIT . There's also a Thavius Beck remix of Less [...]

Last Wednesday we saw singer/ songwriter Emi Meyer perform at the Montmarte Lounge in Hollywood. I have never been before and for a club it was huge with tons of swankin' expensive modern furniture, lighting and 3 bars! The show was a multiple act with art show, but I think the event didn't match the venue. Emi has a 4 song Ep trio style with drums, bass and a 'live at the Hotel Cafe' CD with 14 solo tracks. Emi recently won 1st place in the Seattle-Kobe Jazz [...]

Now I'll be the first to admit I don't get to that many hip-hop shows (a sad byproduct of living in Salt Lake City), but the ones I have been to almost always let me down from a performance standpoint. So when I saw Busdriver last summer open of for Islands , I was not at all prepared for an intense showmanship that most closely resembled Cedric Bixler (of At The Drive In / The Mars Volta fame). The best part of the show was that he genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself, and that feeling continues [...]
Team Drunkard is about to head out the door to catch a plane to Austin for this year's SXSW festivities. Therefore, things will no doubt be a little quiet around here, BUT, you can keep up with my adventures, and a gaggle of other folks', via the Rough Mix SXSW blog. I should be doing [...]
The photo above is of Busdriver in New York, from his tour with Deerhoof. And if you missed him on that tour -- he was awesome -- you've still got another chance to catch him. This time, he's out opening for RJD2, which should make for a damn fine show. Busdriver's latest record, Roadkillovercoat , came out last January. It seems to be a step in a different direction for him, and I'm not as in love with it as I am with his older albums. But it's growing on me. [...]
We would like to introduce you to Busdriver . When we kicked back, threw on the headphones, and listened to this artist we thought "Fluid, trendy, steamy, dance king souffle made for two." What did you think? Use a tag or comment to share your thoughts with everyone. Enjoy. Genre: Hip Hop Label: Epitaph Source: Slapjack Matt [...]

There might be some recordings in the works soon for Deerhoof and Busdriver. Fresh off a tour together, the duo parted ways for Busdriver to jump on board the RJD2 tour and head to SXSW, and Deerhoof to skip the festivities and head for Austalia. But when the two return ...

I've always got the best intentions of doing posts galore during nightshifts, but somehow my enthusiasm just wilts. So during a spare moment at 3am I'll find myself not enthusing about amazing new records, but slumped in front of some ITV phone in quiz silently fuming at callers inability to guess "Racing" as the mystery word before "Car". "Hello Dannii... I'm not sure but.." (please for the love of god say racing) ... err is it Brown"? Brown! BROWWNNNN!!! ... anyway anger management aside here are some new releases I meant to post before grumpiness got in the [...]

Maybe call me slow, but I just found out that Neil Young started a section on his website awhile back called Songs Of The Times , and there are over a 1000 free tunes you can listen to from various songwriters known and unknown. All deal with the timely subjects of war, patriotism, our foolish leaders and the state of the world we are living in. Here are just a few tracks that piqued by attention, go visit Neil's Living With War site here for [...]
I have to say that throughout the post history of this blog there really hasn't been much abstract music. Well, today I plan to blow that out of the water with Busdriver and his brand new disc, Roadkill Overcoat. The Epitaph effort from BD, aka Regan Farquhar, was just released and I strongly believe that his absurdly experimental hip hop sound may end up being one of the most creative albums released in 2007. This is my first time experiencing Regan but he apparently has been making music since the age of 15 and even though this [...]
A fresh release from the wonderfully eccentric emcee Busdriver, aka Regan Farquahar, hit the shelves today. Roadkill Overcoat (the prolific LA artists seventh release in six years!) comprises of twelve quite diverse numbers, each with their own unique individual charms. Production from Boom Bip and Nobody ensures captivating pads & melodies and solid beats are a standout feature on the album. As is Busdriver's idiosyncratic vocal style, which varies from rapid-fire 40-Rothmans-a-day Aesop Rock-ness on "Pompous Posies! Your Party's No Fun", to beautiful Andre 3000-style melodies in "Sun Shower". [...]

On a day when Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are releasing a new album, it's a little odd for me to talking about hip-hop, but overall Busdriver 's new album, Roadkillovercoat is a much more satisfying release than Some Loud Thunder . I'm not anywhere close to an expert on hip-hop music, actually I don't think I've ever written about the genre on this site, but Busdriver's rapping style (called abstract rapping because he raps to both the melody and the beat) is really impressive. I also love how many other genre's he mixes into [...]
