Busdriver - Computer Cooties Busdriver - Encyclopedia Wand Busdriver - Unibrow (ft. Free The Robots) Busdriver has a well-warranted reputation for oddball rhymes spit out at alarming speeds, and for his almost over-eager participation in quirky collaborations, and the brand new Computer Cooties is a fairly decent example of his rampant, over-the-top braggadocio and weirdo, albeit endearing, endeavors. This remix collection features some serious collab production skills of like-minded [...]

Well, it was one of those days for the L.A. hip-hop scene. You know, those days when you're eternally grateful that you live in such a rad city, the same city as underground luminaries Busdriver and Nocando. Aside from future rumors of recording together, the Project Blowdians each released some great tunes today. Busdriver's Computer [...]

So tonight i can finally get round to uploading my set from Eclecticity last month. I blame Chris for taking so long! Although to be fair he has done a really good job of converting the set and keeping the audio quality at a good level (it's around 260 kbps). Before anyone gets the wrong idea and thinks this is actually the live gig audio, it's not. It hasn't been a miked up recording and caught audience noise, buzzing bass and crackly beats and all the other crap that comes along with it. No, what he done was simply record [...]

Photography by me ... Hello & happy Labour Day to all you states-side folks! We may have Monday off from work but that don't mean we can't get the music a-pumpin'!!! But first, do you see that cover above this paragraph? Not only does it work as a bad ass cover for today's mixtape, BUT.... It's also a gentle reminder that you have until FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH to get your fan-sign photos in for a chance to win $30 cash moneys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [...]
[Happy September. And happy 35th to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of the Mars Volta.] Top show I will attend tonight if I can remove the headphones long enough to attend a show: ☛ Sometimes when I'm lost in the ambient music made by Jonathan D. Haskell — aka Seven Saturdays — I feel like I'm hearing the soundtrack to a dream I haven't had yet. His new album, out this week, is titled "The Snowflakes That Hit Us Became Our Stars" [ pay what you want, [...]

During the week, having missed the last train, i had the unfortunate displeasure of having to get a number 40 bus home. I mean, don't get me wrong i don't mind getting the bus, in fact i'd happily take the bus home from work over the train sometimes but i've never been one for enjoying late night bus journeys. They're usually inhabited and frequented by people dressed like this.. They have [...]

This exists to create the starkest contrast between posts since the days when Passion of the Weiss was a website devoted to K-Rino and the soothing sounds of OMC - "How Bizarre" was merely the entry point in a diverse and storied catalogue. Flipping the Roots flipping Monsters of Folk, the second leak from Busdriver's forthcoming mixtape, Computer Cooties finds the Project Blowed vet joining with this month's favorite rapper Open Mike Eagle, to question the existence of God. Predictably, their take is more caustic and atheist than the Roots version - probably because Black Thought is a [...]
Of all the music released in the last year I would have pegged tracks from Monsters of Folk pretty low as probable remix targets, and yet, here we are with the second run at "Dear God," this one from Busdriver.
So anyway, here's this viral video going around; however normally I'd avoid these somewhat, because they remind me too much of plagues started by marketing company's; often with the aim of rendering mindless people that inanimate objects can entice some sort of "experience". Thankfully, there are people out there that do not swim in shit, however this particular viral is just nice. The story goes

A bit of warning before we jump in. I'm somewhat notorious for only posting stuff I like - why waste your and my time with something bad, right? Well, here's a track that's going to break that streak. My reasoning being that I dig Busdriver and like to support him and cover his stuff, but [...]

First off, I am really into RJD2. Well, I am really into RJD2's self dubbed "moron music," you know, mainly the goods that came out before The Third Hand. . I first got into him after he dropped 8 Million Stories in 2003 with Blueprint under the moniker Soul Position. A skinny, white guy from Columbus, Ohio producing the beats on this amazing hip hop album was a lot for me to wrap my head around; I was for sure immediately impressed. However, prior to Sunday, [...]

I'm a big fan of album art, it's one of the big reasons I collect vinyl, and occasionally I thought it might be fun to talk about album covers that I like. A while back I did a post on album cover look-a-likes that people seemed to enjoy, so I thought I'd start off this feature with a post in a similar vein. This is a mix of 10 albums that feature a large circle prominently on the cover. Looking through my collection, I was amazed at how many LPs (including two from this year) share this and [...]

I suppose that anyone who lives in that icy tundra known as Rhymesayers-land deserves a party this dope at least once a year. This line-up is amazing - possibly even worth a road trip for anyone who wants to re-live some old memories and declare it to be the new Scribble Jam sans the battles (though I'm sure there will be more than a few cats doing their best Slug impersonations in the parking lot). Unfortunately - I'm grounded here in Boston for a few months, but if you're going let us know. We'd love some decent video.
