Since we are in the mood for rehashing the glorious NYC past, here's a reminder about a rare live appearance of legendary post punk band Bush Tetras , on June 24th at 285 Kent Ave. The band formed in the early 80s, and offered a sound that mixed punk attitude with funk rhythms in ways somewhat similar to what "co-scenesters" The Talking Heads were doing at the time, although with a less melodic approach. Lead singer Cynthia Sley's spoken, casually atonal way of singing had a significant influence on Sonic Youth Kim Gordon's singing style. The band is still [...]
The 2011 Sunset Strip Music Festival is certainly swinging for the fences. If getting Public Enemy and Bush (in addition to Matt & Kim) wasn't enough, organizers landed the white whale of strip acts, Motley Crue. The festival, which will take place August 18-20, features Cure tribute on Thursday, bands at famous venues such as the Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go, and the Roxy on Friday, and then switches to a full-on street festival on Saturday, where all three headliners will take the stage. Ticket information is available here . [ The Daily Swarm ]

As we reported Tuesday, Mötley Crüe and Bush will anchor the street festival portion of the three-day Sunset Strip Music Festival on Aug. 18-20 in West Hollywood. Public Enemy and Matt & Kim are the other big names slated to play the outdoor stages on Saturday, Aug. 20, when Sunset Boulevard is closed off. The festival kicks off with a tribute to Mötley Crüe at the House of Blues on Thursday night. General admission is $55. Three-day packages and VIP tickets are available. I nfo here . After the jump, the lineup as it [...]

So here's a Sunset Strip Music Festival flyer that was being circulated Tuesday night. The Mötley Crüe/Bush rumors were true. Public Enemy, nice. Anybody excited by the rest of this? For $55?

When worlds collide? The FYF Fest and the Sunset Strip Music Festival each will announce their lineups on Wednesday, and the rumor mill is churning with names. Let's put our ears to the ground: ► Even without having announced a lineup, FYF had a $30 presale on Tuesday and sold out of that allotment. Regular tickets ($35) go on sale Friday for the Sept. 3 event — which promoter Sean Carlson said Tuesday via Twitter will be held "in a new location in downtown L.A." The notoriously [...]

It's a strange experience going to a Cold War Kids concert. Maybe it's because, like me, so many of their fans have been following them since they started, desperately hoping to emulate that first experience of them. They clearly aren't going to be to everyone's taste; theirs is a discordant, aggressive, angst-ridden sound, but to some of us it's still beautiful, honest and clear. Their first album was ball-grabbing, it prompted immediate reaction. I've not met anyone who sits on the fence over Cold War Kids. I first saw them after the release of their debut album in 2006 in a [...]

My New Year's resolution was to start turning up to gigs for the support acts. Many times I find myself uninterested (or my resolution just fails altogether), but every now and then I am presented with a gem. We Say Bamboulee is [...]

In a now infamous moment (seen below), house/techno god Carl Cox dropped a little record called Now Let Me See You Work on an unsuspecting crowd of Ultra festival-goers, and they went wild. At the time not many knew who the artist was that made the track, but turns out it's Australian up-and-comer Joe Brunning. Now the track is about to be released on Bush Records, and I'm pretty sure everyone who was there (and everyone who heard about it) couldn't be more excited to get their hands on this track. [...]

Sometimes we forget to check Grime Daily for a week or two, and then have to slog through a backlog of a ton of videos. It is ALWAYS, ALWAYS worth it though.
" Razorblade Suitcase . What a cool name for an album", I thought to myself as a youngster in middle school. I absolutely had to have it, especially after wearing out my copy of Bush 's debut album, 19942s Sixteen Stone . The debut produced so many hits, I figured it would be impossible for a follow up album to be anything short of spectacular. However, although my parents would always let me listen to any music I wanted and as loud as I wanted too, it didn't mean they would give me everything I asked for. So, I [...]

It certainly seems like a long time since Apocalyptica say down with four cellos and covered Metallica . They slowly morphed over the years from a classical cover band taking on metal songs into a legit metal band of their own. These days they are collaborating with the likes of Doug Robb of Hoobastank , Gavin Rossdale of Bush , and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. It's doubtful that they'll be bringing any of these guests along with them on the road, but you never know! The full list of tour dates is below. [...]
