Last night on my commute home I was trainspotting the piss out of this dudes mobile. The only reason this gentleman's screen caught my eye was because of the massive orange SoundCloud bar on top of his device. Anyway, after several minutes of covert operations, I concluded that he was listening to Butane 's DJ set from the Blk|Market Membership party this past weekend in New York. Anticipating an ever-growing catalog of deep grooves and handy DJ tools, Little Helpers label co-founder Butane introduces the first in a series of derivative works from the labels catalog, designed to fully realize the creative possibilities foretold by the labels mission statement. In advance of his Little Helpers Mixed: Volume One, a stunning compilation of 43 tracks expertly melded into a single harmonious composition, Butane introduces the Little Helpers Edits series. Little Helpers is a conceptual digital label courtesy of Andrew Rasse (a.k.a. Butane) and Sean O'Neal (a.k.a. Someone Else) launched in December 2009. Each track is a strong, reduced groove-tool aimed to satisfy the increasing number of digital DJs. Much like the traditional lockgroove vinyl, these tracks are suitable for looping, editing and layering. Yet at the same time, each track has enough variation to stand on its own. That is, each tune lies somewhere between a full track and a DJ tool - focusing solely on the rhythm or a singular idea rather than extraneous arrangements.

On Full Body Workout Vol. 7 earlier this year, the transcontinental pairing of Germanys Bjorn Wilke and Philadelphias Someone Else drew on both of their lengthy histories, for the debut collaboration Guten Morgen. There they struck upon a balance of classic tech house surrounded by wispy ambient pads and rhythmic shafts of melody. Both Kaato Music label owner Bjorn Wilke, and Sean O'Neal, one of one of the founders of Tuning Spork Records, know house music inside out, and they make dancefloor magic happen once again as they come together for Rainbow Bridge.

Happy and Reflexive atmosphere, with deep-house influences, where deep notes of synth, Indian percussion and acoustic basses combine on a roundness typical from this producer for the debut of this brand new project burning the dancefloors in this super hot Ibiza Summer.

As I surfed channels the other night, I couldn't help but momentarily get sucked into an infommercial. It was by Time-Life and for a nine-CD collection - Ultimate Rock Ballads . Hosting the half-hour pitch to earn my affection, interest, and credit card number was REO Speedwagon lead singer Kevin Cronin. His sidekick was some chick who looked like a dental hygenist and likely had no idea who Kevin Cronin or REO Speedwagon was until her world and his collided in this cash grab.
