We have been waiting for Louisville's Cabin to put out a new record ever since we fell in love with their last EP ("I Was Here EP"). They announced a new album back in November, but its release was pushed back . Well, it looks like we will only have to wait a little longer. They have two new songs on their myspace page and a music video for one of those songs, "Among the Rectangles." There will be a CD Release show for the new album at Headliner's on June 18th! Mark [...]

I was psyched to see that Cabin will be releasing a new album next month in follow-up to the AMAZING, I Was Here E.P. It has been a long time coming, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. We'll let you know when they have a firm release date and update any show dates. From Cabin's MySpace : Hello, all! We're almost out of hiding... and the new album is practically finished! Just have to do the final mixing, mastering, all the fun stuff, and we're getting ready to [...]

And after a short interval we resume.... My eyes are getting worse. It's been about three years since my last eye test and I know I'm going to need new glasses. I find myself taking my glasses off to read more and more when it should be the other way around. Amazing things, eyes.... And so the trigger is.... [...]

Here are some photos from last night's concert on 4th street with Arnett Hollow, Peter Searcy and Cabin. Last night was Cabin's last performance of the year due to the band going back into the studio to work on a new record so if you missed them last night, you're gonna have to wait a bit longer to see them again. All in all, the bands were all great but the sound wasn't so swell. What do you expect for cramming a stage on a narrow street between two high rise building and covering it with a glass lid. [...]
As you all know, this weekend starts the Ryder Cup here in the lovely Derby city. Even if you're not a fan you can at least appreciate how nuts the city is about hosting this event (I've looked at the signs for 4 years now...) and you can be happy about what it is doing for the city's economy. Billed as part of " The Cup Experience ", this Saturday (09/20) Cabin , Peter Searcy and Arnett Hollow will play a show down at 4th Street Live with the admission being [...]

Each day of Forecastle had a distinct vibe, and Sunday's was most definitely the AAA/NPR crowd. I was set for a panel discussion for "The Internet Age" with plenty of other Internet savvy people, with only two people to watch us...my girlfriend and my roommate. Instead, we cut out early and quickly catch Backyard Tire Fire before experiencing Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. , who was the most affected and most touching speakers I have ever seen. You couldn't help coming out of his speech ready to change the world, and ready to get Bush out of the [...]
Louisville's Cabin is this week's artist who took 5 for Kentucky. Cabin is a highly talented band consisting of Noah Hewett-Ball (Vocals/Keys/Guitar), Dave Chale (Drums), Billy Lease (Bass) and Sarah Welder (Violin, Keys, Vocals). Their music is beautifully composed, filled with catchy hooks, and melodies on the keys that get locked in your head (see the title track of the I Was There EP ). Even Sufjan Stevens said that Cabin is "a band you need to check out." I see big things in the future for this band. They are just too damned talented and fun [...]
This week's mix is dedicated to myself and my birthday. I was going to make this one hip-hop oriented as I don't get to do that very often, but I couldn't find enough stuff that I thought everyone would like. Therefore, this mix has no real common theme, except that it's a bunch of songs that I never get tired of. Have a great Fourth. The Dandy Warhols - A Loan Tonight The Hood Internet - Pitbull vs El Guincho - Anthemillias Lifesavas - It's Over Sigur and Mob [...]
One of our favorite local groups, Cabin, is coming to Lexington on Thursday, June 26. I really want to hear the story behind the venue selection because they are playing at the World Famous Two Keys Tavern. One way or another, it is nice to see some of the downtown/campus bars stepping up and filling [...]
This week's mix is erratic like the weather. Enjoy your weekend. Pela - All in Time Benzos - We Have Names Film School - Plots and Plans The Warlocks - So Paranoid Built To Spill - Gone The Dandy Warhols - The Last High Thee More Shallows - Night At The Knight School Birds & Batteries - Ocarina Cabin - Dance With Me Crimea - Raining Planets

Bryan Scary and The Shredding Tears - credit Tonight at DC9 , there is a pretty good show. Baltimore's The Payola Reserve will be joined by Louisville's wonderful Cabin and the always unique Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears . The Payola Reserve - Lay In Wait Cabin- I Was Here Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears - The Blood Club

I started my evening off at the Outlook Inn down on Baxter directly behind the west stage with some yummy brews (Thanks for the hospitality, Outlook). I sat out on the street just next to the band as they had their pre-set drinks. Cabin took the stage a little after 7pm and didn't release us until shortly before 8. With a few tracks from their current EP, some from their full length "Govern the Good Life" and a few new/unknown to me, they played nearly an hour. The warmth that is Cabin wrapped [...]

"Don't set your aim so far, you'll end up right back where you are." Thanks to a tip from a reader of the site, I'm now elbow deep in the music of Louisville-based pop/rock band Cabin . Not only has the band made its way around the blogs, but their newest EP, I Was Here , has even received nods from national publications like Spin Magazine. I'm hanging onto summer as long as I can - especially when a Minnesota winter looms large - [...]

Louisville band, and Sufjan Stevens recommended trio, Cabin were kind enough to join us last week in the MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio / 91.7 WEEM studios. It was a loose, relaxed session that produced some great in-studio tracks. Buy the I Was Here EP at Machine Records for only $7. My Old Kentucky Blog Radio is on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Left Of Center, Channel 26 every Tuesday [...]

Photo courtesy of 110dB.com I'm heading in-studio today with Louisiana's The Eames Era and Louisville's Cabin . I'll be sharing the sessions with you once complete, so look forward to that! Sufjan Stevens recently namedropped Cabin as " a band you need to check out ", but MOKB was telling you that a while ago too. When Cabin's latest EP I Was Here debuted, it faced stiff [...]

CABIN tap into the beauty of simplicity and power of negative space on their new EP, I Was Here . Although it's only 5 tracks, frontman Noah Hewett-Ball's unique style of cleverly straight forward lyrics combined with a melodic mastery and technical proficiency give listeners the feeling they are being gently lulled to sleep while their subconscious absorbs the full weight of the songs. Nevermind that their title track was recently #7 most added on CMJ and steadily climbing up the charts. Forget about their large regional fanbase, sold out shows and [...]
