Kentucky grunge-punk outfit Cage the Elephant is something of a family affair, with brothers Matt and Brad Shultz handling lead vocals and rhythm guitar, respectively. For his latest project, Brad Shultz continues to keep it right in the family, enlisting his cousin and budding vocalist Kane Stewart for a group called Plastic Visions . The story goes that Stewart had been reluctantly running his family business, the California surf megastore Stewart Surfboards. Looking to escape his tedious day job, Stewart abruptly moved to Nashville, where the duo recently spent a month in the studio combining [...]

Calling themselves “the overachieving Little Garage-Pop Act That Could From Bowling Green, Kentucky,” Sleeper Agent have ridden a rocket into the stratosphere of indie rock in less than a couple of years. The key: don’t take yourself too seriously. For example, they commemorated the end of a tour with Cage the Elephant by sending keyboard player Scott Gardner to crash their tour partner’s final set…in a cheerleader’s outfit. “He’s already got this huge mane of curly hair,” said drummer Justin Wilson. “He looked like a pom-pom already!” The seeds of Sleeper Agent were planted in 2008 [...]

Here it is. Our photo rundown of the little festival that could up in Bowling Green. This was my first foray up to Starry Nights, and according to everyone things were way, way, way better than before. For me, it was a perfect sized set up where you could get up close and personal with all the bands without having to sacrifice any other bands. The people were great, and everything was run like clockwork. There was no alcohol sales on the premises, but that was probably a good thing because Kentucky's finest gave me and hundreds of others a [...]

Even though the Rock it Out! Blog is brand new to the Consequence of Sound family, it's been around for four years this October. In that time I've been fortunate enough to sit down and a chat with quite a few musicians; everyone from up-and-coming bands to artists you've followed for decades. As a way to properly introduce myself to the new audience, I was asked to list some of my favorite interviews that I've done. Hopefully this gives a glance at my past and an idea of what to look forward to in the future. [...]

On today's episode of the Rock it Out! Blog, I talk with Cage The Elephant frontman, Matt Shultz. We talk about the band's upcoming music festival in September; what it's like to see Cage The Elephant in concert; and how it felt to get picked to play Metallica's Orion Music + More festival. Like this video and share it with anyone who's a Cage The Elephant fan or anyone who's a fan of good music.

Cage The Elephant is one of our favorite bands and we're always excited to see them play live. They just played the House of Blues in Atlantic City ( review ) the night before their set at the Orion Music + More Festival. A little before their set time, our very own Michel Dussack had a chance to speak with lead singer Matt Shultz and his brother, guitarist Brad Shultz. Read on below to see how the Shultz bros feel ...
Governors Ball doesn’t really feel like a festival. Maybe it’s the fact that none of the sets overlap, something that has it’s merits and issues, but most likely it’s the fact that for many of us, we go home at the end of the night. There's no camping, no wild late-night partying (of course, they did have some wild after parties at Brooklyn Bowl), there’s your bed at the end of the night. Let me tell you, having your own bed at the end of the night has its merits too. [...]

Written by Emilia D'Albero, Photos by Michel Dussack Those people who attended Orion Music and More last Saturday know that Bowling Green band Cage the Elephant and New Jersey natives The Gaslight Anthem can rock hard enough to draw thousands of people to their respective stages at Bader Field. But those people who arrived in Atlantic City a day early had the opportunity to see both bands perform at the House of Blues and to experience their raw power and ...
