As we previously reported, Caged Animals are set to release a new EP come 11 June on Lucky Number. They've already revealed one video accompanying a track from the short-player, and now they've previewed another off it via a free download. 'I Will Take My Own Hand' is track 4 from the follow-up release to last year's LP Eat Their Own . And from the sounds of things, the This Summer EP is set to be the band's perfect tonic for all this warm weather. Listen/stream/download beneath:
I am often amazed at how artists can take dark and difficult moments and harness the emotional power to create something beautiful. How is this relevant to Caged Animals ? After the loss of a parent, Vincent Cacchione moved back home and started creating music as an outlet, birthing his first musical project Soft Black . Soft Black was a somber affair--its second album The Earth is Black (And Other Apocalyptic Lullabies For Children) recounting throughout its 10 songs a series of nightmares Vincent had been experiencing. Emerging from this pensive project was a silver [...]

Brooklyn indie poppers Caged Animals will follow up last year's Eat Their Own with the Summer EP in June, a release which includes the previously discussed " This Summer I'll Make It Up To You ." Now, nab another track from the new release, the slick, straightforward groove "I Will Take My Own Hand." Download below. Read More...

Originally the solo project of Vincent Cacchione, Caged Animals evolved from a handful of rough, acoustic recordings to the beautiful, synthetic soundscape so lushly laid out on their recent album "Eat Their Own". This man-made dreamland is delicately built on exquisitely arranged synths that pull from the gentler end of the 80s new wave canon, but Cacchione seems less like a new wave revivalist and more like a 21st century successor. - Read Dean Van Nguyen's interview with the band here , and don't miss the band show at The Deli's NYC B.E.A.F . on [...]

'Crash, bang, thud' go experimental pop outfit Zambri 's loud arrangements. Sisters Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri surely spent many a rainy afternoon as children drumming incessantly on anything around them as their music is partially defined by their large scale percussion sections. Underneath the punishingly thumped drums lie dark, sinister synth arpeggios and wicked pop melodies, which blend together beautifully on their debut album "House of Baasa," an accomplished and truly original piece among the recent flood of New York electronic records. The sisterhood will headline the Deli's B.E.A.F. Electronic Stage at Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday [...]

Caged Animals released a rather dark video for their surf tinged track "This Summer I'll Make It Up To You". Check out the reaper on skis behind a speed boat!

Following the release of 20112s Eat Their Own , Caged Animals have announced details of a brand new EP. This Summer EP was recorded at the same time as the aforementioned full length but as you can see from their brand new video for title song 'This Summer I'll Make It Up To You', the five track lends itself perfectly to the warmer months. Due out via Lucky Number Music on 11 June, the track listing for [...]

As soon as the sun comes out, it seems that everyone want to make music that either has the word summer in the title, sounds like summer or feels like summer. If it were possible to make music with a sent; people would be no doubt making music that smelled like summer. How can you blame them though? Shit's good right now. I've started to see summer in a similar way that I see new years eve, in my opinion it acts as an extended version. Both lend easily to drastic, thoughtless and free spirited decisions. With both [...]

" All The Beautiful Things In The World " fue el track que les puse el año pasado por aqui perteneciente al mas reciente album de larga duracion de Caged Animals titulado "Eat Their Own" y aunque ya desde el titulo de la cancion se habian podido dar cuenta de la belleza de los visuales que acompañaban ese video, me parece que no esperaban encontrarse con un par de chicas desnudas por la playa y si estaban esperando encontrarse algo similar en este nuevo video del track con el que abre su proximo EP de nombre "This Summer", [...]

Last year, Brooklyn indie-poppers Caged Animals made noise with their album Eat Their Own . Next month, they'll follow it up with a new EP called This Summer . The video for opening track "This Summer I'll Make It Up To You" opens up as a sprightly, beautifully photographed romp in which the band speedboats across a lake, but things abruptly turn dark when a water-skiing Grim Reaper shows up. [photos by Johnny Fried Chicken Boy] We have been big fans of Vincent Cacchione's music ever since I saw an incredible backyard performance by Vince's other main project, Soft Black , back in 2010. While Soft Black continues to move forward with mastering a new record, Cacchione has delivered another record with Caged Animals. Where Soft Black is classic, organic rock n' roll with a post-punk twist and a gloomy outlook, Caged Animals is a more au courant style of act, all heavy synths and reverbed vocals, taking cues from electronica and the [...]
