Caitlin Rose - Own Side Now 9/10 Caitlin Rose is yet another female vocalist I'm in love with. For those of you not familiar with Caitlin, she hails from the home of country music, Tennessee. For some 22-year-old country singers this could of been a burden, but based on the evidence of the debut long-player, Caitlin seems to have managed to put her own stamp on the country music scene. Own Side Now is neither revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it is a great slice [...]
A quote from my sister over the weekend pretty much sums up how I feel about this year's Bonnaroo experience: "I'm sad it's over, but am so happy it happened." The name says it all. What does Bonnaroo mean, anyway? It means "a really good time." Thanks Wikipedia! Overall, I may have [...]

There is such a huge pool of talented female singer/songwriters out there who I love right now, and Caitlin is right up there. Along with Lissie her voice has lit up many a winter night during the cold snap over here. The Dead Flowers E.P. rightly garnered a great deal of praise from the UK music press, and now comes news of her long-awaited debut LP. Own Side Now will drop August 9th on Names Records. Don't worry, as soon as I get my hands on a copy (hopefully early next week) [...]

Caitlin Rose - Daytrotter Session It has been awhile since we waxed positive about one of our favorite Nashville songstresses, Caitlin Rose . Recently added to the bill at Austin City Limits, Ms. Rose has quickly made a name for herself in her hometown playing with a revolving door of fantastic musicians such as Justin Townes Earle ( flood victim relief concert ) Jordan Caress (who supports her on this Daytrotter session - what up Jordan!) And the Relatives, Johnny Corndawg, Bowerbirds, Tristen (!) and more. Her draw is beginning to [...]
Caitlin Rose is back. After a brief sojourn in London at the end of last year into which she managed to cram in a good number of gigs, she's back in the capital for three shows next week, starting at The Black Heart next Tuesday. The most interesting one of ...
Caitlin Rose - " Shotgun Wedding " …and now for something completely different. I live in Nashville, and true to the stereotype, there's plenty of bad country music about. Luckily though, a lot of what's around the city isn't this poppy, Nickelback-with-an-accent, fake-country nonsense that you see these days. But if you stroll around town and listen, you'll hear more country music that's true to its roots, music built on solid songwriting, and instrumentation that requires talent, not a mixing board and Auto-tune. So, to prove to you [...]
I had heard good things about Caitlin Rose before, but my first live encounter was still startling. Sandwiched between two Local stalwarts at their Christmas bash in December, her voice stood out starkly - pure, clear and strong, singing her fine songs and a few choice covers, all with a ...

Caitlin Rose is a 22 year old country-folk star hailing all the way from Nashville, who chooses to cite Buddy Holly and Bob Dylan as just two of many influences upon her dreamily nostalgic music. Armed with a beautiful voice and an acoustic to go with it, TGTF were terribly excited to be handed Rose's brand new EP, 'Dead Flowers', earlier on this week. The EP kicks off with 'Shotgun Wedding'. Said track proves to be a perfect foot-stomper of an opener, led by excitably picked acoustics and Rose's falsetto twang which often echoes the [...]

Caitlin Rose has made the opening track 'Shotgun Wedding' from her forthcoming seven-track EP Dead Flowers available as a free MP3! MP3: Caitlin Rose - Shotgun Wedding

The last year or so my musical tastes seem to be maturing towards a real Folk/Americana leaning. Caitlin is just the latest artist I'm really feeling. Okay, I don't see myself in a cowboy hat and boots anytime soon!!! Still, this girl is moving me. Signed to Names Records here in the UK, she releases her debut EP 'Dead Flowers' towards the end of next month. A precursor to a full length album due later in 2010, 'Dead Flowers' is a distilled taste of [...]

Fantastic American country-popstrell Caitlin Rose will release her debut EP Dead Flowers on February 15th. Strangely enough Dead Flowers was also the name of Miranda Lambert's EP last year. However, Caitlin's takes its name from the cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Dead Flowers' which appears on the EP. In case you're wondering, 'Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray' is a cover of that Patsy Cline song. Excellent. You can stream the EP in full online now ahead of its physical release. Tracklist: 1. Shotgun Wedding 2. Answer in One of These Bottles 3. Three [...]
Caitlin Rose: Gorilla Man from Anika Mottershaw on Vimeo . A video Anika made for Caitlin Rose's song "Gorilla Man"... Quite brilliant & super adorable. My favourite parts are when they blink their eyes. Cheers, Tsuru Tsuru And The Bride | Etsy | Society | Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr

Songs That Might Otherwise Pass You By The podcast show notes are in the post before this one Caitlin Rose (Live from Laundromatinee) , " Sinful Wishing Well " and " Shanghai Cigarettes " (I posted a video of her live performance at the end of this post) When I was growing up, the only country music I liked was the stuff my Uncle had in his record collection--Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Tanya Tucker, Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Roy Orbison [...]
MP3 : Caitlin Rose - Sinful Wishing Well (live on Laundromatinee.com ) Wild as mink but sweet as soda-pop, Nashville based Caitlin Rose specializes in the drink-away-your-heartache Country-with-capital-C music that brings rhinestone legends Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn to mind. There's a dose of the singer-songwriter, one voice/one guitar ethic of Kimya Dawson or Daniel Johnston thrown in there as well. Her voice is both delicate and twangy, like a banjo with butterfly wings. [...]

Less is always more: the phenomenal 5-song EP.

Her 2008 EP "Dead Flowers" (her only release to date) showcases her fragility ("Answer in One of These Bottles") mixed with some healthy cynicism and humor ("Docket" and "Gorilla Man," respectively). She also gives us a great [...]
Here's another one from Caitlin Rose. She's got a new album out in 2010, but I doubt this will be on it. It's just as well though - bonus song! MP3: Caitlin Rose - Still Feelin Blue (Gram Parsons cover) Yesterday Caitlin Rose shared this Gram Parsons song on twitter. It's slowed down (well, for half the [...]
