Well, we're just about halfway with the reposts... Today, we feature volumes 9 and 10, which were originally posted in August 2009. Volume 10 holds a special place in this blog's history, because that's when Aaron from Tsururadio offered to post the mix on his blog. That started a bit of following and it has grown ever since. Aaron's moved onto Tsuruphoto, following his passion for photography. He now has a nudie-zine featuring some edgy but tasteful art, several videos to promote the zine and Tsuruphoto, and the occasional mixtape. We owe a big thanks for his early support, and [...]
Tweet This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before [...]

BRAHMS have been around for well over a year now but have yet to release anything officially, until now that is. Their much-hyped four song EP was fantastic, trawling through the depths of the darkest and dreariest of Electronic Funeral-Pop, but it was always given away for free and was never tangible. Well it looks like it won't be anytime, but they are releasing this new song on an upcoming 73 single (out March 1st) as the B-side with the A-side being the the newer jam I posted of theirs back in January "Add It [...]

MP3: BRAHMS - Add It Up Stereogum premiered the a side to an upcoming single from New York's beyond excellent/stellar/phenomenal BRAHMS . After a legendary demo, the dudes are finally releasing a 7 inch which if "Add It Up" is any indication (spoiler: it is) is going to rip faces apart all throughout these United States. Can't wait for this one to spin on my turn table!

Finally, some new music from BRAHMS. Since I discovered them back in March after sifting through the massive amounts of music that the SXSW organisers give away for free each year, it's been almost 10 months since anything new from this NYC three-piece has made it's way onto the interwebs. They have done a bunch of remixes but nothing new by themselves, until now. Premiered over at Stereogum , "Add It Up" is taken from their upcoming debut 73 and we can "expect a full-length this year". Sweet! Check it out [...]
Three good-looking young men with a huge pedigree of music between them (lead Cale Parks is from Aloha, White Williams and his own solo work, just to mention a bit), a year in active duty that has already seen them open up a tour for Passion Pit and share dates with Telepathe and Lemonade, book huge shows at SXSW and in/around New York, BRAHMS makes 80's nostalgic cinematic pop music that's as affected as it is effective. It's beautiful and sometimes complex, but never not fun and creative in approach. The three sort of came together immediately and have only [...]
Wow! Three years old - thats like middle aged in blog years. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it finally (it only took 2,402 posts). This past year has been filled with many ups... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Tonight at Pianos in NYC, Cale Parks' new band Brahms will hit the stage for the first week of their three week Pianos residency. Over the course of the next three Tuesdays, Brahms will attempt to wow and woo you as bands like Passion Pit and others have during their own residencies at Pianos. They've also loaded these three nights with supporting talent worthy of their own headlining slots! You can check out all of those details below, but before we get [...]

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms (BRAHMS Remix) [mp3] Back in early February, BRAHMS headlined our humble winter showcase. Now it seems the Brooklyn band is really taking off, as they offer up this excellent new remix of Neon Indian's "Psychic Chasms". They were also recently singled out as "Band To Watch" on Stereogum . Remember that huge SXSW post I made a couple of weeks ago where I uploaded hundreds of songs by bands and artists appearing at this year's festival? Nah I didn't think so, but I do, and one of the things I remember about it as I was listening to all of the songs and writing down bands that caught my attention and then marking bands that I really liked with multiple asterisks, was that I had placed exactly three asterisks next to the name "BRAHMS". Yeah you read that right; THREE ASTERISKS. Just take that [...]

it's true, he knew the ends would be alright ♫ Brahms - Toward The Ghost (Demo) Ok, hold on, this gets complicated. Recently I covered "Moonless March" by Aloha, a band that has been putting out albums for a decade now but I just discovered. Well Aloha has dude in it named Cale Parks who handles percussion, piano, and vibraphone duties. Besides knowing what a vibraphone is, Cale has also put out two solo records. He recently got two other dudes together to be his [...]

Brooklyn band Bear Hands is about to release a new single "What A Drag" in February, but you can download it free via their website for the next month. They bring back the same energetic... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Newly formed Brahms releases concert dates to debut their sound, unfortunately, the sound is anything but original. Make up your mind for yourself by cashing in on some free downloads and possibly catching a show if you are in the NYC area.

I've been sick in bed but that hasn't stopped me from digging deep for music in between long naps, I found soo many nice tracks I even want to post the 4 songs for tomorrow now. Helios is one of those bands i'll always check out because I know they'll have a stand out track on there album every time and this album is no exception. The song Cross The Ocean is the closest i've heard to something like Boards of Canada in a while but without the PBS feel, [...]
Drink Up Buttercup - Even Think (Cale Parks Mix) Last week, Drink Up Buttercup dropped by KDHX. Catch 'em on their fall trek! MP3: Drink Up Buttercup - Even Think (Cale Parks Mix)
Monday: Fuck Buttons, Growing, + These Are Powers @ Bowery Ballroom 7:30pm $15 [ tix ] Most acts that set up in front of a table are never able to truly capture an audiences attention in the live setting. They stand there, pressing buttons and twisting knobs, letting the music do the work for them and a lot of times it winds up as a boring performance. Fuck Buttons are not one of those bands. Yeah they do the pushing and twisting, but their music captivates, the sheer volume and magnitude of the sound [...]
