If you aren't a fan of these Frenchies after their brilliant release for Beats In Space and their incredible remix for Jacques Renault's last release on Lets Play House then you need a good long look at yourself in the [...]

[Photo: Cedric Viollet] We have a great deal of love for Paradis here at La.Ga.Sta. Having already impressed us with their two great releases for Tim Sweeney's Beats in Space label and their first remix of Jacques Renault's "Back To You" back in January, the sophisticated Parisian duo of Simon Mény and Pierre Rousseau continue to amaze us with their excellent new remix. This time round, Paradis work their magic on Brooklyn's electronic producer and musician Cale Parks' [...]

By Dale W. Eisinger Everyone gives the guitarists all the credit. And even when the light gets shined on the skin bashers, the focus is generally put on the past. But drummers are an integral part of bands, and in some cases, the crux. The primal draw is obvious, the thud of the heart, the trudge of the multitude. But there’s something more to drumming these days, something more cerebral and cultured. Whether it’s just plain chops, structuring a grove, getting the band to move forward, or being the centerpiece of the [...]
Here's a new instrumental electronic jam from Cale Parks, a musician who has also performed in outfits like former BTW Brahms and Aloha and is now playing drums in Yeasayer. It's called "N13 and it boasts an easy-going pulse. Download it below. Read More...

Pic: Karin Bauer Back in business playlist. Some euphoria on Mirau. Wistful downtempo by Cale Parks and gloomy ambience from 1991. We just discovered this really nice downtempo/piano-ambient project by talented Cale Parks (who's also the latest addition to Yeasayer's live outfit). New York-based Parks already drummed for acts like Passion Pit, Steve Moore, White Williams, did remixes for Neon Indian, Bear In Heaven, Ra Ra Riot and the Joy Formidable and is blogging HERE. Watch [...]
Multi-instrumentalist and indie veteran Cale Parks is back to his solo works following the dissolution of BRAHMS last year with a new single "The Big Bust". The paper thin instrumental track is a world away from Parks' danceable, synth/ percussion pop and its gorgeous. Take a listen: The Big Bust by CaleParks Cale Parks is DJing PopGun Northside Afterparty at Glasslands this Saturday, June 16th with Body Language (DJ set) // Team Spirit (live set) Get yr tickets [...]

Well, we're just about halfway with the reposts... Today, we feature volumes 9 and 10, which were originally posted in August 2009. Volume 10 holds a special place in this blog's history, because that's when Aaron from Tsururadio offered to post the mix on his blog. That started a bit of following and it has grown ever since. Aaron's moved onto Tsuruphoto, following his passion for photography. He now has a nudie-zine featuring some edgy but tasteful art, several videos to promote the zine and Tsuruphoto, and the occasional mixtape. We owe a big thanks for his early support, and [...]
Tweet This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before [...]
Brahms Brought It Out Continuing on my warpath of making out with as many SXSW buzz bands as humanly possible, next in the line of fire was the uber hip Manhattanites BRAHMS . How could I pass up barely legal, Aloha -esque, fashion week celebs standing inches away from me? I couldn’t. Jailbait guitar and keyboard player Drew had already caught my eye. The band that formed a little over a year ago quickly [...]

BRAHMS have been around for well over a year now but have yet to release anything officially, until now that is. Their much-hyped four song EP was fantastic, trawling through the depths of the darkest and dreariest of Electronic Funeral-Pop, but it was always given away for free and was never tangible. Well it looks like it won't be anytime, but they are releasing this new song on an upcoming 73 single (out March 1st) as the B-side with the A-side being the the newer jam I posted of theirs back in January "Add It [...]

MP3: BRAHMS - Add It Up Stereogum premiered the a side to an upcoming single from New York's beyond excellent/stellar/phenomenal BRAHMS . After a legendary demo, the dudes are finally releasing a 7 inch which if "Add It Up" is any indication (spoiler: it is) is going to rip faces apart all throughout these United States. Can't wait for this one to spin on my turn table!

Finally, some new music from BRAHMS. Since I discovered them back in March after sifting through the massive amounts of music that the SXSW organisers give away for free each year, it's been almost 10 months since anything new from this NYC three-piece has made it's way onto the interwebs. They have done a bunch of remixes but nothing new by themselves, until now. Premiered over at Stereogum , "Add It Up" is taken from their upcoming debut 73 and we can "expect a full-length this year". Sweet! Check it out [...]
Three good-looking young men with a huge pedigree of music between them (lead Cale Parks is from Aloha, White Williams and his own solo work, just to mention a bit), a year in active duty that has already seen them open up a tour for Passion Pit and share dates with Telepathe and Lemonade, book huge shows at SXSW and in/around New York, BRAHMS makes 80's nostalgic cinematic pop music that's as affected as it is effective. It's beautiful and sometimes complex, but never not fun and creative in approach. The three sort of came together immediately and have only [...]
Wow! Three years old - thats like middle aged in blog years. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it finally (it only took 2,402 posts). This past year has been filled with many ups... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Tonight at Pianos in NYC, Cale Parks' new band Brahms will hit the stage for the first week of their three week Pianos residency. Over the course of the next three Tuesdays, Brahms will attempt to wow and woo you as bands like Passion Pit and others have during their own residencies at Pianos. They've also loaded these three nights with supporting talent worthy of their own headlining slots! You can check out all of those details below, but before we get [...]

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms (BRAHMS Remix) [mp3] Back in early February, BRAHMS headlined our humble winter showcase. Now it seems the Brooklyn band is really taking off, as they offer up this excellent new remix of Neon Indian's "Psychic Chasms". They were also recently singled out as "Band To Watch" on Stereogum . Remember that huge SXSW post I made a couple of weeks ago where I uploaded hundreds of songs by bands and artists appearing at this year's festival? Nah I didn't think so, but I do, and one of the things I remember about it as I was listening to all of the songs and writing down bands that caught my attention and then marking bands that I really liked with multiple asterisks, was that I had placed exactly three asterisks next to the name "BRAHMS". Yeah you read that right; THREE ASTERISKS. Just take that [...]

it's true, he knew the ends would be alright ♫ Brahms - Toward The Ghost (Demo) Ok, hold on, this gets complicated. Recently I covered "Moonless March" by Aloha, a band that has been putting out albums for a decade now but I just discovered. Well Aloha has dude in it named Cale Parks who handles percussion, piano, and vibraphone duties. Besides knowing what a vibraphone is, Cale has also put out two solo records. He recently got two other dudes together to be his [...]
