Based from inside ones mind in Brooklyn, New York this small eclectic label of Small Plates Records is setting a diverse and mindful pace to create a subtle & never-ending eclipse of washed away melodies and uncompromised releases. Showered by an air of confidence that is held in the arms of giant, atmospheric anthems; Hands creates a timely production known as 'Warm Night Home. Unbothered by unnecessary manners and crushed melodies on demand, the remixes coming away from Gracie Originals flood the heart will hope and upmost faith. Gloomy [...]

This is a "get it while you can" suggestion. It won't be free for long, and it's very good. Campfires ' "Laurentide" is a little slice of lo-fi heaven. Refusing to fall into the malaise in which many lo-fi tapes mire themselves, Campfires brings an energy and vibe that recalls the early Kinks and, strangely, The Birds. There are plenty of hooky grooves driven by fuzzy guitars and uptempo percussion. This recording is high on the "replay" factor, and there's plenty more on their website (see below). Check out: [...]

By Trevor Meyer Campfires released Slaughter Tropes back in December 2011. Needless to say we were all excited by the album. The guitar work in this little number "Melted Rubber Soul" has a way of sticking with you throughout the day. The production value is redolent of the vintage humbucker and chiming tones frequently used during the 60's British Invasion. Mouthwatering. Give your ears a treat and spin this one. Jeff Walls, a.k.a. Campfires , is back after a small hiatus with a brand new mini-album cassette called Slaughter Tropes showcasing his penchant for scuffed up classic rock and lo-fi noisemaking. Here's the tape's first cut "Melted Rubber Soul: » Campfires - Melted Rubber Soul These kind of sandy, distorted grooves might not be for everyone, but there's something wonderful about Campfires' songs, especially for the crate-digging, vinyl-loving folks out there. "Melted Rubber Soul" sounds plucked from [...]

Chicago's psych pop great Jeff Walls just gave me a heads-up to the latest offering of his project Campfires , a nine-track cassette named Slaughter Tropes that contains both brief instrumental musings and his signature lo-fi jangling anthems, of which I enjoyed "Distant Hills" the most (a wonderful Revolver -era Beatles homage) but that is truly rewarding all along the line. You may order the tape or download the whole thing for free via Campfires' bandcamp . Let some sunshine in. Campfires - Distant Hills

by teepoo Rain Over St. Ambrose comes from Nova Scotia and presents a lovely mixture of pop infused rock tunes. Campfires is a tune from their EP Overton Window . It's quite a delightful rock anthem and for some reason I'm in love with the way the song begins. There's something catchy and inviting about it. Their self-titled EP before this can actually be downloaded for free here . Rain Over St. Ambrose- Campfires
We threw a small end of summer bbq that went long into the night. The last few stragglers that remained into the twilight all gathered around the firepit with a drink, and we started playing my favorite game, one that I love to think I invented. It's basically giving everybody a chance to be the DJ for a song, a mix between a jukebox, and that game where you start telling a story and then the next person finishes. I love ...

Zelienople — La La La The folks at Twosyllable Records recently let loose their Chicago Cassette Compilation , a lavish, genre-spanning mixtape that puts 18 Windy City talents in one convenient analog package. Among the featured artists are slo-mo rockers Zelienople (as seen on Type ), who raise some spirits with the crushingly dirge-like "La La La". A fuzzy, strummy contribution from Campfires (Jeff Walls) can be heard over at Altered Zones, who premiered [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. If the booking has a theme, it's "big names from lots of genres." Diverse heavyweights include Swedish pop star Robyn, Idaho indie rock icons Built to Spill and pioneering rap crew Freestyle Fellowship, from Los Angeles — touring with its original lineup for the first time in 10 years. Also big: American country/rock singer-songwriters Shelby Lynne and Ryan Adams, and Canadian electronic duo Crystal Castles. The fest's lesser-known Seattle acts are also strong, representing the top tier of several local momentums: twee pop (Seapony, Witch Gardens), hip-hop and soul [...]

Photo courtesy of Laurie Clark Seattle, Washington was once known for its producing of grunge acts such as, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Now, Seattle has placed their attention on the ever-growing indie rock movement; you have the ethereal, multi-instrumentalists in Fleet Foxes, and very soon you will have Campfire OK invading your ear canals. Yes, Campfire Ok borrows a little bit from their older brother Fleet Foxes, but the band is absolutely all their own. Thumping drums, spine-tingling harmonies and spontaneous explosions of staccato, brass goodness, make Campfire Ok a band that will reel [...]
