by teepoo I've heard a ton of hype lately about Montreal's Half Moon Run, so I decided to see what the big deal is. Now I have been listening to their latest release Dark Eyes non stop. Their style of fast-talking and rhythmic music is so infectious. Full Circle is the title track but you seriously have to head over to Bandcamp and here the rest. Oh yah here's the video:

The new album from Cold Specks is due in May. While being fairly familiar with Cold Specks and her previous works/monikers, the new album is looking (sounding) better and better...especially after hearing the production in Blank Maps below! While I have always enjoyed her raw cathartic sounding 'folk noir' - I think it is really coming into its own with the added fine tuning for the full release. by teepoo I have to catch up on like two weeks worth of music, but I can't believe I missed this. This new catchy punk-pop tune is part of their new upcoming release titled Celebration Rock which will be out June 5th . I love how their titles seem to mock genre barriers. I love how mid-track it almost seems to end but nooooo , it only gets better.

by teepoo I was too lazy to move venues on Friday so I stayed the night. Next up was New York band Caveman. Finally, something with more energy and they definitely pumped up the crowd. I had heard of the band from my fellow American bloggers as they had some buzz during CMJ. The band had some funky patterned shirts which fit their quirkiness. by teepoo PS I Love You was the band I really wanted to see that night. I was utterly disappointed though. Paul was sick that night and they took way too long to set up and tune between sets. by teepoo The other group I caught at Sneaky Dee's was Tim Chaisson and Morning Fold. Besides Tim Chaisson having pretty dreamy eyes, his music was pretty catchy too. by teepoo I caught part of the day time East Coast set at Sneaky Dee's on Friday afternoon. I made it in time for PEI's Raccoon Bandit . At first they began with the drummer (Adam Gallant) as the vocalist and I was like "Who on earth is singing?" . Fraser McCallum took over lead after that. by teepoo I had heard there was going to be a secret guest at Cabin 5 Thursday so I took my chances and stayed the night. They didn't announce who it was until very close to the set time. It ended up being Parkdale's USS short for Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker. The grunge rock and drum and bass mixture isn't something I would have seen by choice but I ended up having a great time. by teepoo I continued my Thursday night music journey by spending the rest of it at Cabin 5. I didn't see The Balconies earlier that night at the Audioblood Party so I caught them here. They played to a pretty packed house and I've never been to Cabin 5, but it sounded pretty great considering the tiny space for set up. by teepoo Ariane Moffatt's MA is so far my favourite album of 2012, so naturally I just had to see her set. Her set was just as amazing as the album in terms of energy and seductiveness. I caught him at the Audioblood Party with a bassist and a drummer. What an epic beard he has, and man can that dude's voice carry. He played old music (included the infamous Thick as Thieves ) and some new songs from the upcoming EP Lives in Between . He even busted out the harmonica!
