When Canned Heat played the Montreux Festival in 1973, the band was a shadow of its former self. When Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson died in September 1970, possibly having committed suicide, it brought an end to the heyday of his legendary blues-boogie outfit Canned Heat. By the time what was left of the band played the 1973 Montreux Festival, it was crisis point. You'd have to be high not to figure out where Lance Herbstrong came up with with their moniker. The American reggae crew love both bikes and weed - the second track were posting sounds like a doped-up reggae version of Moby, high as a kite of course, with some dreds and a chillum. Adolfo "Fito" de la Parra (born 8 February 1946 in Mexico City) is a mexican drummer best known as a longtime member of Canned Heat. Adolfo began playing drums in a band called Bluesberry Jam which eventually turned into Pacific Gas & Electric. In 1967, he replaced Canned Heat's original drummer, Frank Cook and played his first gig with the band on December 1, 1967. This is a great collection of tunes by a truly fun and in their day unique band. They always had tunes that translated well into long jams with an infectious groove reminicient of the Grateful Dead.
