Here we are again, this time with a list of the fifteen best songs released in 2008. Enjoy! #1- "Freeze and Explode" Cassettes Won't Listen I discovered this band via Subterranean a few months ago. I immediately downloaded the EP and have been in love ever since. This song is like an icier Postal Service, and given the dormant status of that band, this is an incredible substitute. So good, so beautiful. [...]
After several weeks and too many days on hiatus, I'm finally ready to unveil ThaBombShelter's Top Eleven Albums of Two Thousand Eight. And it's fitting that this marks my 500th Post here at ThaBombShelter. So, huzzah for that! Now then, on with the show! #1- "Places" Canoe This is an album that hooked me immediately. I put it on in September and instantly fell in love. From track one to track seventeen, I just couldn't stop listening to it. [...]

What a week. Even though it's been a day "shorter" than normal due to our Labor Day, it seems like last friday was ages ago. I've gotten little to no sleep all week, and my only requirement for the weekend is to finally get some good shut-eye. I haven' tblogged much this week either, not because I was too busy or too tired (though, I was). Rather, because there just wasn't all that much that peaked my interest. I know, there was surely something I could have blogged about, but I didn't. My appoligies to anyone who really wanted to [...]

I have a confession to make. I have been obsessed with this album for the past two weeks, when bandmember Carl Hoiland sent me a humble, kind, informal email asking me if I'd be interested in reviewing his album, even though it was released back in January (which, if you were unaware is pretty much the internet equilavent of the 19th century). I checked their myspace and was enraptured. I listened to their album and was in love. I listened to their cover of "Holland 1945" and was obsessed. Canoe is a family affair, [...]

Since you'll be ignoring the Olympics over the next few days why not discover some new bands from around the world? Here's a collection of Olympic-themed bands and my ranking of how well they make me forget that about that big sporting event in China. Stars of Track and Field This Portland, Ore., band is older than the Olympics themselves, but we like having these guys around. Winning Song : With You [...]
