While Grizzy Bear may be prepping for a new album later this year, members of the band have been doing a lot in the mean time. Ed Droste was recently married, Chris Taylor released his first studio album as CANT last fall, and now Daniel Rossen is set to release his own solo studio effort. We heard Rossen's first song " Saint Nothing ," off the upcoming Silent Hour/Golden Mile EP a few weeks back, but "Silent Song" is more assuredly worth your time. Listen below.

I don't mean to be a prude when I do this, but we all had favourite albums last year, you can't deny that, and I had too many. In fact, so many that I loved that it was difficult to decide between them all, and I had been reading endless 'trendy choice' end-of-year lists before the year had even gone out. So I thought I might deliver some kind of personal justice by posting one that people can sneer at all they want, but might actually pick out something they overlooked and think "Hey, I might actually try that now, [...]

This year we've cut down our "best of" lists and got straight to the point, we'll have two lists and an extra something(s) special up our sleeve. Lists can get increasingly tedious this time of the year and every Tom, Dick and Harry are compiling their best albums, videos, tracks, artists, newcomers, the holy "Ones To Watch", what are we watching for exactly? This first list is for NEWCOMERS, the criteria isn't "Oh we came across this band in 2011, they're [...]

What a year it has been. I was hesitant on compiling any "best of" lists, but decided to because it really was an exhilarating year for music. It seemed like anyone who was anyone dropped an album, mixtape, EP, LP or any other composition, and through the very... very bad shone some excellence which has me anticipating what the new year will bring. I've collected a randomized top 20 list of my favourite albums of 2011 and subsequent favourite album tracks (I thought a top 50 would've been a bit extra.) Everything I thought I liked was redefined by these albums [...]

D.L. Anderson Year-end lists are kind of like Christmas displays in shopping malls. Every year, they seem to come out a little earlier and are a little less welcome but there's little choice but to accept them as a fact of life. Paste kicked things off yesterday with a very Paste-y top 50 of the year, topped off by a record that's probably going to be getting more than a few "album of the year" accolades (though not likely around here, though I like it more than the first record), Bon Iver's [...]

Grizzly Bear frontman Chris Taylor has released a music video under his solo moniker, CANT.
Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, the man masquerading as CANT , has made a video for "Too Late, Too Far," one of the pheromone-soaked polyrhythmic slinkers from his debut solo LP Dreams Come True . The Richard Peete-directed clip opens with some " ">Vomit "-esque automotive chic, and then some mystic woods, cinematic smoke, VHS weirdness and fabric monsters take over, making it like David Lynch directing a We Are The World video siphoned through an analog filter. It's not weird nightmare material at all! Watch: Read More...

In the aftermath of Thanskgiving, people all over the U.S. re-celebrated with leftovers. Some might have enjoyed turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce on a roll, while others undoubtedly flung gravy, stuffing, and turkey together into a gelatinous mush. And just like those blended bits of culinary delight, CANT (Grizzly Bear frontman Chris Taylor) utilizes blended imagery in his music video for "Too Late, Too Far". Featuring a man burying something in the woods, a giant mop monster, avant-garde dance scenes, and Taylor in full black and white cookie makeup, it might actually be less absurd and [...]
