Yikes it's been a big week for big releases. Bear Funk released both Bottin 's new album and their latest compilation Hibernation Vol 1. I've been really looking forward to Bottin's LP and sadly haven't been able to give it a full listen yet, but there are some stunners on there. He's got a great mellow sound, nothing that's hard on the ears or the head. The comp nicely embodies Bear Funk's easy going attutude and approach to the same sort of laid-back music. This SDC track was also just released on a 12" [...]

[image via flickr.com/kkoshy/ / CC BY 2.0 ] Im A Cliché recently released its first compilation, Moments of a Crisis , in celebration of the label's five years. Available through Beatport and Topplers Music the release is a two disc set of new and unreleased material from Simian Mobile Disco , Yuksek , Cosmo Vitelli , Runaway , and more. Below is the video teaser which presents a series of jocular interpretive [...]

A-a-a-a-a-a-and, we're back. Let's ease into things with some new French Horn Rebellion . French Horn Rebellion - Beaches and Friends (Hey Champ Remix) Bonus sunny-chill: Canyons - Apples & Pears Related posts: Fake French. Bon, bon. French Horn Rebellion - Up All Night... Canyons are fast risers. Signed to < strong> that Aussie label, the Sydney based duo (formerly Perth) have just recently signed a deal with DFA too, due to release a 123 in July. How to describe this track? Its got a touch of balearic, with a dark and low pulsating bassline, and a haunting horn creeping through the beat. This is definitely a dark, midnight club track but a very promising evolution from their last big track we featured on Waves, Apples & Pears. MP3: [...]

Canyons - 'Blue Snakes' ( mp3 ) Parisian producer Cosmo Vitelli has been running the label I'm A Cliche for the last five years and is celebrating this milestone via a double disc release called Moments of Crisis . The first disc contains past releases, kind of a greatest cuts selection, but the second disc contains new tracks by Simian Mobile Disco, Yuksek, and Australia's own DFA signee Canyons. This track previews what we can expect from these producer duo form their upcoming album. www.myspace.com/thecanyonsinfo

In a piece of 'oh, yay!' news, Sydney two-piece Canyons , they of the slow-burning, disco in a garage remixes and originals, have linked arms (and inked contracts) with Modular. This is great news for Leo and Ryan, who're preparing both a fancy live show and an even fancier debut album. With the ground-shaking power of Modular behind them, well, they could do anything. Like...be on So You Think You Can Dance! At least a collab with Nathalie Bassingthwaite, right guys? Top of the list, I'm sure. Empire Of The Sun - We [...]

Oooh new Canyons is always good news. Especially when it's a circa 1999 cruising house track straight from the Mediterranean to my room. Canyons - Blue Snakes (taken down by request) And as for this unusual 9 minute rework of Empire of the Sun ... Possibly too stripped back. Or perhaps I don't get it because I'm too mainstream and my ears are only trained to appreciate bangalangas. Empire of the Sun - We Are The People (Canyons Remix)

[Photo: HoboGestapo] Summer has officially started, which means I can now publically get excited about the coming festival season, especially FIELD DAY. I even intend to sacrifice a traditionally loose NYE in preparation. The international headliners are fantastic but often at such massive festivals I find that many of the smaller acts punch well above their apparent weight. We can expect quality sets from the usual local DJ suspects but I think many will be pleasantly surprised by The Canyons . [...]

Lost Valentinos returned to the scene last week with newie single, Bismark out on always firing Bang Gang 12 Inches . Shit is a total burner. Love the menacing bass and vocal, plus who can deny a handclap solo? Nobody that's who. It's packed with top-notch remixes from Golden Bug, Dexpistols, Knife Machine and Canyons . Doom was kind enough to share this out into the blogosphere, so big ups there. The package is a cracker, and it heralds the return of one of my fave acts after a pretty rocky couple of [...]

Modular Records, the home to luminaries such as Avalanches, The Presets, Cut Copy. New Young Pony Club, Klaxons, Van She, Ladyhawke and more, turns 10! This is going to be amazing. I kind of really do wish I lived in Australia. The event plays Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in December. Tickets are almost sold out, so Australians get with it and get your tix now! "NEVEREVERLAND is the musical wet dream Australia this December to celebrate Modular notching up double digits and turning ten. With The mighty, mighty Presets, the neo-awesome knights Klaxons, [...]

i wish i had more time so i could find a new job or go out and find some new music so i could stop listening to Hail Social - No Paradise Hail Social - No Paradise (Adeyhawke Remix) (really awesome songs) id probably say that if i did stop listening to hail social , id check out Popular Computer - Girls - because Popular Computer have just released [...]

The new single "Bismarck" (drops today) from Australian indie group Lost Valentinos is the latest offering on the Bang Gang 12 Inches imprint. "Bismarck" comes packed with remixes and we got the nu-disco one done up by fellow Aussies Canyons who gives us a 5 minute tripped out version with marching band drums. Lost Valentinos - Bismarck (YSI) Lost Valentinos - Bismarck (Sharebee)

Canyons are totally blowing up aren't they? I'm cool with it because they're this beautifully strange Australian version of Ratatat that listens exclusively to disco dub tracks. Their Lost Valentinos mix is a mind bender but that's under wraps for the moment. While you wait, dig into these gems. Canyons - Yesterday The Dog Canyons - Apples & Pears Tame Impala - Skeleton Tiger (Retamed by Canyons) CANYONS

God! Australia! You make me so bitter! And angry! And jealous! And giddy that you exist! I'm so conflicted! (Not really). Seriously, what the fuck is going on? What or who is behind the awesomest music on the planet right nows? So, for your Wednesday chilling, here's The Canyons , who, out of nowhere, have given us the Lovemore EP, which opens with "Apples And Pears", which is really great, if you have 4:55 to devote to being a happy, well-adjusted, individual. And you fucking better. I apply the term "The Jam" to lots of things (interesting [...]

Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie, AKA Popolice , is probably the most underrated Melbourne act around, producing some of the most mesmerizing pop/shoegaze. I honestly cannot sing this guys praise enough. Creative genius. Every time I see him play is a treat, even if my eardrums do suffer a little afterwards from the wall of noise. These recordings don't really do him justice, and you should do yourself a favour and pop on down to his next gig, wherever it may be. Some of you may have heard a track of his on the Cut Copy So Cosmic mix last [...]
