In the clip above, an eclectic array of talent — including Wyclef Jean , Little Boots , Jason Derulo , Capital Cities and Betty Who — [...]

![CAPITAL CITIES AND GOLD FIELDS PLAYED IRVING PLAZA [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4948360_lg.jpg)
Photos by Luis Ruiz Capital Cities , along with openers Gold Fields and Lovelife , sold out Irving Plaza last thursday night. The evening began very darkly, though the crowd certainly didn't seem to mind, with loud percussion and mysterious, strobing lights from Gold Fields . When Capital Cities made their way to the stage, the atmosphere became than of an 802s dance party, complete with huge Neon Sunglasses, choreographed dance routines, pop classic covers, and matching jackets. For anyone who has ever tried to sing along with Barry Gibb in "Stayin' Alive", help is here. Capital Cities takes the classic Bee Gees song, slows it down, and eliminates that daunting falsetto we all think we can hit. Their electronic style brings in a fresh new take on the 1977 hit song and don't worry, the trumpet that we hear quite frequently in Capital Cities' songs in there as well.

After throwing down at Irving Plaza last night, LA synth-pop kings Capital Cities have delivered a groovy cover of Bee Gees’ smash “Stayin’ Alive”. Keeping the disco element perfectly intact, a more lush environment is so delicately placed on top. Listen and download below.

Two retro covers in one day ? Don't mind if we do. The second comes courtesy of rising synth-pop stars Capital Cities and their take on the Bee Gees' disco classic, "Stayin' Alive." The L.A. duo's electronic version is cool and smooth, the exact kind of thing you'd play with the windows on a night-time ride through Miami. Stream it below. Of Monsters and Men I'm getting this post in JUST under the wire because we mopped the kitchen floor last night and my laptop was still in the kitchen. I could have gotten it, but, c'mon guys, it was late. And I have like 45 minutes to spare. In fact, if I hadn't told you, you never would have known how close to the airtime I'm writing this!....So just act like I didn't say anything.... Oh and we have a new Grammy Alternative Album of the Month to coincide with the new [...]

"I could lift you up" This song is killing it right now in Germany. At the time of this writing, it's number one on the singles chart. I mention this only because it surprises me, particularly since the song's been around for years (it must be part of some advertisement or something). I've known about it for quite some time myself, but looking at the itunes chart caused me to re-investigate. And really, it's a song worth a second look. The band seems to think so, too, as they've released a new music video and reignited [...]
Our favorite remixer RAC has been really active lately and it would be a shame not to feature some of it...so why not all of it. Starting off with the blippy take on Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound", followed the straight forward remix of Bastille's "Laura Palmer", then the ambient groove applied to Steel Train's [...]

Of Monsters and Men Well, it's one of those times when it's VERY late at night, so I won't really say a lot on this post. There's a lot of good music to hear. Just click the link below :) Countdown #149 ***Featuring*** Beck Capital Cities Imagine Dragons Lovelife The Lumineers Mumford & Sons Muse The Neighbourhood Of Monsters and Men Silversun Pickups Thirty Seconds to Mars
It's pretty crazy that Capital Cities' "Safe & Sound" has been out since June 2011 and is only now getting the much deserved attention because this song is just undeniably good. While their first video for the song featured Charlie Chaplin and other historical dancing juxtaposed against war over the past 100 years (which you can see here ), the new video - well it's a DANCE-OFF. With an endearing homage to their first homemade video, the new video is a result of signing to Capitol Records, enabling the duo to create this video and reach the audience their music [...]
Roughly two years ago, we got our ears on Capital Cities' "Safe & Sound" for the first time. It came accompanied with a self-edited video of old school, Charlie Chaplin esque dancing clips, and the track itself was an obvious choice for the airwaves. Again, this is June 2011. Watching ... Read More
