In addition, we're very pleased to announce the winners of our Captain of Industry Mystery [...]
...we've been talking with Captain of Industry this week in preparation of their upcoming show at Gilly's this Friday and today we've got another discussion for yr enjoyment. This time we're talking with the guitarists for the band, Kevin Oldfield and Tommy Cooper, about the upcoming shows and what, in their humble opinions, makes COI [...]
...as we reminded you earlier this week, Captain of Industry return to the stage this weekend with a show at Gilly's this Friday, May 13. Our man Don Thrasher sat down recently to speak with vocalist/keyboardist Nathan Peters about the upcoming show... Don Thrasher: I didn't realize Pretty & Nice was on the bill. How did [...]

They'll hit the stage in Dayton this Friday at Gilly's and we've got a very special giveaway for you! Two lucky winners will receive a pair of tickets to [...]
...while we've been hearing rumors for a while now, yesterday it was confirmed that longtime Dayton faves Captain of Industry will play a pair of reunion shows in May. Following the release of their third album The Bronze in 2008, the band did an East Coast jaunt, then quietly faded out. COI's endlessly inventive twists [...]
...today we introduce another contributor to our expanding team here at The Buddha Den, former Dayton Daily New Music Blog writer, Kris Neises. Let's see what Kris has to offer for his debut feature... …In the spirit of last weekend's 'Dayton Does Dayton' shows at Canal Street Tavern, the Den asked area musicians 'What their favorite [...]
...not so very long ago, I was speaking with a fellow local music journalist and we were lamenting the fact that one of Dayton's finest bands perhaps ever had departed our beloved music scene with relatively little fanfare. So, we'd like to take a moment here and reflect on a truly great Dayton band... ...For much [...]

Since releasing the fantastic Get Young last year the guys in Pretty & Nice have spent a good chunk of 2009 on the road, opening up for acts like The Thermals and building up their following. We haven't been able to chat with them about what they're planning to follow Get Young up with, but we're sure these guys are probably getting ready to do something to that extent. The guys combined to submit two pretty sweet lists, the first is a compilation of "Under-Appreciated Acts" they hope to turn [...]

[Rock Snobbery |:| A List] Referencing it because I can, Urban Dictionary defines a rock snob as "an especially irritating breed of tool." Yes - in life's tool box, rock snobs are right there next to the guy who thinks he's the Fonz. Even if they have a characteristically, well, snobby attitude, rock snobs are a proud subset the music community can't exist without. Rock Snobbery is a badge one should be eager to both wear and hide - like the STD badge for Girl Scouts. While being ahead of the curve and the [...]

One of my high school U.S. history teachers was a sucker for the Industrial Era of the 19 th century. She devoted an entire class period or two expelling story after story about the financial tycoons and robber barons, like the man with the rosacea infected nose J.P. Morgan (always self-conscious, despised being photographed )! Nevertheless, crafty men like Morgan were so wildly rich and powerful that they were referred to as captain's of industry because their personal fortunes could contribute to the country in a positive way. Morgan single-handedly bailed the U.S. economy outta [...]
Oldfield, Peters, Cooper, Sperry and Lakes – so very rock and rock don't you think? These five make up the Dayton outfit known as Captain of Industry and although I'm only parachuting into their creative output at album number 3, 2008's 'The Bronze', I already know I am going to be lapping up their back catalogue with glee. 'Face Full Of A Head Full Of Hair' may be a bonkers title but the song

A few weeks ago, my band had the fortune of sharing the stage with Dayton, OH indie-rockers Captain of Industry , who came at us by way of our friends in Pretty & Nice (who are about to drop '08's indie-pop bomb in October, more to come on that as the date approaches). Without ever having heard Captain prior to playing with them, I was instantly engaged in their live show - singer Nathan Peters calmly hid [...]

It has been too long since I wrote here about one of Dayton, Ohios best bands, Captain Of Industry . The guys had been laying low for awhile putting together their new album, which is in stores now, The Bronze. The band teamed up with Columbus based label, All Hail Records , another favorite of mine to release the record and the pairing could not be better. The Bronze has everything you want from the COI boys, upbeat caffiene charged rockers and a few ,dare I say, "pretty" sounding [...]

Dayton, OH Captain Of Industry is a quartet from Dayton, Ohio. By combining a little garage rock with some new-wave and punk, the band is able to create a sound that is all their own. The Great Divide is their second album and is full of melodic danceable rock. It’s available now on Do Tell Records . "Go Go's" Captain Of [...]
Wow, talk about a good cause! There is a group of folks that have banded together to do an concert soon featuring some really great bands, including the guys from Captain of Industry. And the best part, ALL of the proceeds are going to support our friends at WOXY ! Let me just say that if you are in the area, reading this blog, and you dont at least buy a ticket to this thing, then you must not care about independant music and WOXY. If it were not for WOXY, independent music would not [...]

Well, back home now and recapping Day two at this point is really unfair. But, since I spent a chunk of time with Eric from Marathonpacks Friday and he happened to do his recap on time, a quick jaunt over to his site helped me recall a few parts of the day I may have forgotten otherwise. Friday morning started off with "the" blogger panel. Myself, Dodge , Eric , Duffy , Craig and E to the J sat in front of a group at the Jazz Kitchen [...]

Daytons own Captain of Industry got things off to a hot start on Day 2 at Des. The sun was ripping as these guys played a really good set. Color me pleasantly surprised. Technorati Tags: Captain of Industry
