Hailing from Iceland, FM Belfast 'create inspiring electro-indie-pop' - a genre (you say genre I say YAWN ) I usually steer well clear of. However, this remix of their track 'Par Avion' by fellow Icelanders Retro Stefson is actually quite nice. As well as being a highlight of this year's Iceland Airwaves festival , the four-piece apparently also do cover versions of Rage Against The Machine and Technotronic... hmmm. The inspiration behind this song goes as thus: "One very cold winter day there was an article in the newspaper about an [...]

What is the UMS you ask? Well that's a silly question. Many have called the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase the "South by Southwest of Denver.” Originally a one day, four band gig at the Bluebird, this showcase has bounced between Bluebird and Gothic before finally moving (and exanding) to South Broadway in the historic Baker district. Otherwise known as the hipster herding grounds. Excerpted directly from the UMS About page: "At the UMS , the presentation of the music is as important as the music itself. It’s the songwriter circle in the Persian rug boutique; [...]

Excerpt: "Solter re-constructs the group's material into set-pieces that are idiosyncratic, unhinged, dazed, and more than a little confused. .. Solter's wild ride boldly shifts The Caribbean's style from its customary state of Warholian Pop Art to a fractured zone of Robert Rauschenberg-styled Abstract Expressionism." Textura

We're no experts here on dancehall or ragga or any of the digital-filtered music to shake the streets of Jamaica, but we're going to fetch a giant guess here and say that this track and the accompanying video from Poirier (feat. Face-T) are going to easily make heads go full-on apeshit. It's the sort of pan-Caribbean, tempo-shifting, drum-slapping, wobbly-round-the-clock arrangement that will bring dance kids to their feet, engorging them with tribal rhythms that emit shamanic effects and stunningly visceral emotions. If you like low-end thrillers that deliver a vision quest to the listener, "Wha La La Leng" [...]

The world of lounge, exotica and easy listening is a bottomless pit, with an unfathomable amount of golden material buried under crap music every day. Who would have thought the talented Mexican pianist Pepe Jaramillo will one day be forgotten? These three songs are from his 1960 album South of the Border released only on vinyl. An absolute beauty with nary a bad song, including covers of Ernesto Lecuona 's Siboney and the mambo classic Sway among others. Pepe Jaramillo - The Breeze and I Pepe Jaramillo [...]
