Carl Hauck released his latest album, Windjammer , back in 2010 and it is a wonderful collection indie-folk. His session with Audiotree, which was recorded late last month, was released last week.

On Joyful Wings presents a tribute to Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens to benefit the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
"Seven Swans Reimagined" is released by On Joyful Wings , a project that benefits the Susan G. Komen foundation . This is the label's second project. The album Seven Swans is organized around a series of bible verses. Seven is Christan special number, referring to completeness, and referenced in the Book of Revelation. I'll never post anything I don't seriously like on Rawkblog, but this is a special record, a collection of tender country-tinged folk that draws on Michigan -era sufjan Stevens and Heartbreaker / Gold -era Ryan Adams with equal adeptness. So Chicagoan Carl Hauck's Windjammer might just be (along with Laura Veirs' July Flame ) my favorite folk-ish release of the year. Delicate and layered folk music with gorgeous melodies, great guitar playing, and interesting accompaniments that include a Kenny G style saxophone part. In the five years or so I've been doing this, I can't remember a better year for songs. I actually spent most of Saturday ordering a top 100, went a little crazy and decided nobody needed me to rank seven hours of tracks. So here's a top 50. Today sees the release of Carl Hauck's new 9 track album "Windjammer". The album is a study in delicate finger picked singer songwriter selections that carry some of the best melodies of 2010. Hauck is no stranger to the pages of Slowcoustic (see here , here & here ) so I might be a bit biased on this Illinois' talent. First off we have a new track from Carl Hauck called "Windjammer" - it is the title track to his upcoming November album. You might remember Hauck from a couple of posts we previously had (see here and here ) and as expected we are getting some fine acoustic goodness. This one is pretty light and airy (no pun intended) and may seem too delicate to some.
