Azeem is back with one of the most original and hottest tracks that I've heard this year. Like I said before, I love how no matter what track he's on he's always himself. He doesn't try to emulate another persona and it's working great for him. He has a voice that you can instantly recognize and he uses it in a way that I don't think anyone is doing right now. Hell, while I'm on the topic of Carlos St. John x Azeem collaborations here's the latest from Azeem with (yep you guess it) Carlos St. John on the feature. In the past Ive only heard Azeem as a feature, but to actually hear him as the main artist on the track I have a whole new view of the dude. His raspy voice is very unique. Azeem and Carlos St. John are back in cahoots on a new track, this one titled "Hurricanes and Tornadoes". The bulk of what we've seen from Azeem to this point has come in the form of production work and supporting vocals for CSJ material. Then things changed with "All The Same 2 Me", where he demonstrated the ability to carry a song unassisted. It's been a minute, but we've finally got some new Carlos St. John , with Azeem on the hook. I love hearing these two together. As artists, they're in different realms but somehow manage to capture the same intensity when they link up for a track. Some rappers spit half-assed. Some manage to make this seem like an effortless, smooth flow, but a lot of the time it just sounds lazy. You can tell that Carlos puts a little piece of himself into the delivery of every word, and Azeem matches that effort in the hook. If you checked out my post on Carlos St. John then you may already have heard Azeem on a couple of tracks. Azeem definitely has a voice that I think can stand out on its own but also blend in with a variety of other influences and still sound great. At the same time, there was a St. John track that Azeem sort of took away from for me. His career is very young right now and he has potential.
