While Mr. David Bowie apparently has no intentions of making a live appearance anytime soon, that hasn't stopped the legendary musician from readying a few new releases. January 26th will see the unveiling of a brand new live CD titled A Reality Tour , while a deluxe edition of Bowie's 1967 eponymous debut will be offered beginning February 9th. But it's this new Bowie tribute album that has most caught our attention. After all, as TwentyFourBit has discovered, Manimal Vinyl 's forthcoming tribute sports quite the list of contributors. Quite, [...]
Caroline Weeks had Spaceland sitting cross-legged on the floor with hands politely folded in their laps. One fellow with candle wax melted atop his head perched on a stool near the stage—were those tears gathered at his eyes? Or makeup? His named turned out to be Debutante, of San Francisco. He performed with opener Universe. I wish I caught their act, but to enter a room in the throws of Caroline Weeks was a riveting, awkward moment worth cherishing. It's rare you walk into a concert and feel like excusing your tardiness to the tea party.

[mp3] Caroline Weeks: "Elegy" [mp3] Lewis & Clarke: "Petrified Forrest" Lewis and Clarke have been a great new find for us so has Caroline Weeks . We've written on both in the past, and now they will join each other on a tour this summer from late July to mid-August. What this bill may lack in sheer rock force, it makes up for in sweeping folk beauty. Yet, we must be clear, neither of these acts come [...]

Slumberland Records is releasing Swedish all girl trio Liechtenstein 's debut album Survival Strategies in a Modern World on June 2nd. For Bat For Lashes member Caroline weeks recently released her debut solo album on Manimal. It's an indie folk affair and very much leans towards the avant garde. That is to say that it certainly won't be everyone's cup of chi. Good thing too. Wasn't expecting anything less really. She has a unique yet distinctively English voice that floats through the recording whilst establishing it's presence beautifully throughout, but never more so than on the delightful song entitled 'The Return'. Dreamlike and sensual, this is a must have for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. [...]

Went to see Bat for Lashes last Wednesday, just me and Sarah, we had the best of times considering I was a little bit apprehensive due to the new album's super gloss. The Anson Rooms were bloody boiling, the extractors only seemed to shift the heat downwards… don't think I've been there since the Tindersticks … seemed bigger somehow … packed in like sardines we were… thankfully no fainting was on the cards… Natasha was boiler suited up with a white [...]

Caroline Weeks isn't really new to the scene, but it's unlikely that you've heard much about her as a multi-instrumentalist for Bat for Lashes. She is an accomplished guitarist and flautist (among other things) and has performed with and been a part of numerous groups I've never had the pleasure of hearing, including an all-girl chamber quartet and a Bulgarian folk choir, of all things. Weeks is just now making her way into the spotlight with her solo debut, Songs for Edna , a collection of nine sparse tunes using the words of late American poet, Edna St. Vincent-Millay [...]

Caroline Weeks is a multi-instrumentalist and has been a part of Bat For Lashes over the past three years. While she is involved in a handful projects across a variety of genres, (a death-folk-roots trio and a Bulgarian folk choir to name two) she is also now releasing her debut solo album, Songs For Edna , on April 7th. The record is a beautifully sparse folk record with all lyrics borrowed from late American poet Edna St. Vincent-Millay . Caroline is a classically trained flautist and has taught herself numerous instruments including her favorite, a [...]

"My candle burns at both ends/It will not last the night/But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends/It gives a lovely light!" - Edna St. Vincent Millay Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote in a lyrical voice, and it was only a matter of time before someone put her words to music. London's soaring soprano Caroline Weeks (Bats For Lashes) has managed to record a moving tribute to Millay that is intelligent in both lyric and sound. The album Songs for Edna , features 9 tracks of stark minimal folk all with lyrics borrowed from the [...]
