Oh Casey Shea , when will you stop being so dreamy? Hehe. But seriously, I am loving this track off his 2011 album In Your Head - available now on Family Records. And I must admit, I was also excited to see that my friend Wes Verhoeve has made his directorial debut on the accompanying video. Mad props all around! SONG: Casey Shea - Let It Slide

Casey Shea's third album, In Your Head, hits store shelves today, (11/1) on Family Records. (Your chance to get your hands on a copy is after the jump.) "My earliest memory of anything musical was a toy record player I had when I was about four. It played 45s, and my favorite thing to listen to was a record from Showbiz Pizza. I can't remember what the B-side was, but the A-side was a remake of "Do You Love Me." Of course the singing was done by make believe bears, but [...]
Another week, another set of new albums. But firstly, this week saw the official release of a new live album from a musical genius that some people consider one of the forerunners of indie rock - the prolific Peter Gabriel. This week, Gabriel released New Blood, an album recorded live in London with an orchestra, [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Tally Hall at Bowery Ballroom (03/04/10) Photo : Jon Klemm Listen : "You & Me" - Tally Hall It's been a while since we've heard from one of I Rock, I Roll 's favorite bands, Michigan's Tally Hall . It turns out that they haven't broken up, (except with Atlantic Records that is), but in fact, have been busy working on their new album entitled Good & Evil . Their long awaited second LP will drop on Jun 21 [...]

Brooklyn singer-songwriter Casey Shea has had one busy summer. As soon as his new album, Love Is Here To Stay , came out in June, he turned right around and went back into the studio to record a whole 'nother full-length, due out early next year on the Family Records label. If you've ever seen the prolific man live, you know he's got a whole lotta charisma, and an endless supply of quirk-folk pop gems in his back pocket. Sweet Shea brought the charm to the LimeWire rooftop recently, where we chatted about his studio-bound summer, a [...]

Sad Red There are lots of interesting beats to be found on Sad Red's new album Elder . Unexpected syncopations keep you on your toes while urgent guitars fuzz out the edges; melancholic lyrics are delivered in turns with hushed howls and moody pleas. The arrangements are tighter than the average brooding band and they aren't entirely dedicated to downer tunes. Songs like "Bag Of Shame" have an almost ethereal overtone despite the great shaking bass line. Sound like an intriguing band? They are. Give them a good listen and I'm sure you wont [...]

His new album, Love Is Here To Stay , is full of throwback rock and pop songs that inject new life into familiar sounds. It's out now on Family Records and costs a mere $4.99 if you pick it up through their website. That video up [...]

Casey Shea is a rising singer/songwriter, having plied his trade in the fertile music breeding grounds of Nashville, Tennessee and moving his way on up to New York City. His newest album, Love Is Here To Stay , (released on one of our favorite up-and-coming labels, Family Records ) is available for a mere five bucks , and he's offering the title track as a free download. It starts off meandering, but builds to a crescendo at the midpoint with strings and a backing choral harmony, finished off with horns [...]

Wakey! Wakey! 's fellow Family Records artist Casey Shea is back with a new track, 'Love Is Here To Stay' and a new video for Elephants . Casey Shea spent a handful of years fronting rock bands in Tallahassee and Nashville before setting out for New York City to focus on a solo career. A gifted performer with undeniable charm, Casey delivers his songs in a unique way that earns him an audience's devotion. Think Bill Murray meets John Lennon. Melody drives diverse songwriting that [...]

This is gonna come off sounding like an insult, but it is meant as anything but- Wakey! Wakey! is gonna ending up being this generation's Billy Joel or Elton John. I'm sure a few of you are taking that as, "oh, he's gonna be some obscenely catchy, pop garbage", but realize before you infer words like that from me that I am a huge fan of both Billy Joel and Elton John. Both have spent the last 40-years or so crafty some of the catchiest, most fantastic pop-rock songs a piano could bear, and should be respected as such. More [...]
Jennifer - Casey Shea 7.11.09 - The Gramercy Theatre, New York NY Casey Shea grew up next door to me in Florida back in the late 80s and 90s. Until recently, the last conversation I had with him about music was Phish and Big Cypress (he went, I didn't). Now he is making his own music, and is damn good at it. Check out his blog at caseysheamusic.com/blog . He plays primarily in NYC, but you can download a lot of his studio stuff from the blog. Have a [...]

On Tuesday, January 20th, the United States will swear in their 44th president (you might of heard of him, apparently he's rather popular). And starting this weekend, our nation's capital will be overrun with supporters, gawkers and t-shirt hawkers converging for the inauguration. In the midst of this, hundreds of parties will be happening all [...]
So, the official Polaris Prize Short List will be announced on Monday, July 7 and the other day I decided it would be fun if I asked some musicians, bloggers and industry types to pick their own Short Lists for an upcoming post on this right here blog. Well, after a minimal amount of harassment on my part, 38 people (including yours truly) picked their own Short Lists and today I'm ready to share the fruits of their (and my own) labor. Now an official Short List should probably consist of ten picks from the [...]
