Indie quintet Cashier No. 9 have signed to UK label Bella Union . The Belfast band will release their debut LP To The Death Of Fun in June of this year. Ragged Words reports that label boss Simon Raymonde said: "These are not songs for the sake of it, they are songs with heart and soul. Catchy, atmospheric and upbeat; Goldstar by Cashier No.9 sounds like it should be a trailer for Skins as it oozes charming coolness. The infectious melodies that weave throughout the song cleverly leads to a harmonica-driven climax. The Northern Island outfit certainly seem to be onto a winning formula with this song as they separates themselves from other electronic bands through the injection of the highly organic sounds of aforementioned harmonica and simplistic piano notes towards the end of the track. It's quirky lyrics and appealing sound give Goldstar a great hook, and make [...]

[ Guest DJ is a new recurring feature on Stranger Dance where we turn the tables and ask some of our favorite artists to make us a mixtape.] For the inaugural edition of Guest DJ, we stayed close to home and went to one of our favorite local bands, The Harbours . It only feels like a couple of months since we were at Punchestown for Oxegen and with the July rain threatening to turn the green to a brown hue we feel right at home. It also doesn't feel that long since we first saw CASHIER NO.9 . It's actually only been four months but the band are showing promise on top of the initial promise they showed upstairs in Whelans at that show in February. The Belfast band led by Daniel Todd have that which is most important - tunes. Proper songs with no generic bits. In 'Goodbye Friend' [...]

I went down to Whelan's a couple of weekends ago to catch the Nordie double header of Cashier no.9 and Escape Act . Escape Act were great but Cashier no. 9 were playing from a different sheet. Every song was of a very high standard and every song had something to hold onto, whether it was a hook, a guitar riff, a unique drum beat (Seriously the drummer was one of the best drummers just to watch play I had seen in a long time). It makes me wonder with all the great music coming out of [...]

With the daily dose of economic woe becoming increasingly tiresome it probably makes sense to engage in activities that involve that strange little activity known as having-some-fun. Escape Act, New Amusement and Cashier No.9 are all capable of

"42 West Avenue", su primer single, ha recibido excelentes críticas de la prensa especializada y ahora acaban de editar el segundo, " When Jackie Shone" adelantos ambos de un debut que se publicará este año.
