This Norwegian group has been a favorite of mine since I posted "Det Haster!" back in October of last year (a track off their latest album, the name of which is unpronounceable for me, but means "The Revelation over the Mountain" in their native tongue). To be perfectly honest, I had the whole album several months before it was to be released in the U.S. It was torturous not being able to share it with you on the spot, but alas copyright infringement loomed large. Now that the album has been released in good ol' America, I doubt Metrojolt will [...]

Tweet Back in November we heralded the brilliance of Pinemarten . Now, listen y'all: When we 'herald' something we're never wrong, seriously we know good music (and arrogance) and we know that this falls firmly in that category. Other wise we wouldn't write about it right? Geddit? Now Pinemarten is back with a newly regurgitated track for you to freely download below. It first came out a year ago but Pinemarten have kindly given us all a second bite at the [...]
In the wake of the magnificence that is their new album 'Aabenbaringen over aaskammen' that I reviewed in January , we sent some questions over to singer / synthesiser man Ketil Kinden Endresen of Casiokids to answer. Read on to find out about how the album was recorded and their theme of a magical rainforest explorer, how the real London Zoo disappointed him, and his personal apology to the people of Cambridge... I read on the press release for 'Aabenbaringen over aaskammen' that you recorded the new album [...]
April - also kein Scherz! Casiokids - 'Kaskaden' [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

We've been doing up the floors in our house, stripping out the carpet, repainting the walls, painting the trim and doors, and laying down a rich brown woven bamboo (hence the lateness of this post and the general lack of posts this week). It's a project that should add equity to our house and, one day, our pockets. I threw this playlist together Friday morning and set to work stripping carpet from the hallway while it played in the background. Then I threw on some vinyl and rounded out the [...]

Who knows what these Norwegian electro-pop kids are so happy about – we thought their home town of Bergen was full of black metallers stabbing each other in the face and burning churches. Crass generalisations aside, Casiokids ' third album Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen ('Revelation Over the Mountain') is a hyperactive day-glo summer jamboree that's on general release in the greyest month of the year. Maybe the four-piece are running on good vibes after their fellow countrymen A-Ha backed them with a one million kroner grant, for emerging Norwegian bands with export potential (take note, Bono). [...]

Gawky synthpop scamps quivering in corners Bergen's Casiokids may once have been although in the wake of their third and debatably most muscular full-length, Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen, they return to the tenebrous caverns of London's underground to sell out Rivington Street's swankiest subterraneous railway tunnel, Cargo. It's our inaugural Eat Your Own Ears show of 2012, and it left us stupefied; asinine beam indelibly etched from ear to ear; genuinely thankful an irrepressible festive greed never resulted in the gnawing of aural receptors... Up first however are FAMY [...]
Casiokids ' new album 'Aabenbaringen over aaskammen' is out now on Moshi Moshi (my review of the release here ). And 'Golden Years' (not to be confused with David Bowie's song of the same name) is a great track on the effort. What happens when you let Norwegians loose backstage in Tokyo? This video. It's a lot more chill than their manic live performance, I can tell you that. You can catch the band on tour this month, starting tonight in Birmingham (all the details here ). [...]
The band have an album which brightens up the month with a flurry of songs which are like colourful, synthy fireworks

Casiokids - Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen By Stef Siepel First of all, go see Casiokids live. They are the epitome of fun. It is a quirky bunch, and they are having fun being that, and they really exhume that feeling of "funness" to the audience. Not to mention that they have already released some catchy, lovely songs like 'Finn Bikkjen', 'En Vill Hest', and 'Fot I Hose' (they are one of those Scandinavian bands, by the way - where tuneful, easy-on-the-ear songs are grown in back gardens or plucked [...]

Artist : Casiokids Title : Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen Label : Moshi Moshi Release date : 16th January BUY IT Written by Tomas Dickinson After various sell-out UK dates last year and spending 2010 supporting A-Ha on their farewell tour, fellow Norwegians Casiokids release new album 'A abenbaringen Over Aaskammen ' [...]

Chiming orchestral pondering with a playful pop backdrop and the sincere low-key cry of Ketil Kinden Endresen sets the scene for a reflective glide, 'Golden Years'. Nordic nostalgia contrasts with a rumbling rhythm base, allowing part of the mind to wander and the other bit to focus on a pressing matter. More bass is added to and an almost lounge vibe takes hold of the 'Bathers Remix', before morphing into a rhythmically rousing samba skirting sojourn. This release, as a whole, is more focused and less incongruous than the previous pop distorting foray, 'Det Haster'. Seen together, these [...]

Yes, they had a song on the FIFA 10 soundtrack, and that's probably where you've heard of them. But I have more important news. Norwegian electronic-driven band Casiokids have a new album out this month, called 'Aabenbaringen over aaskammen'. I am in the fortunate position of having seen the band perform some of these tracks live when they were last in Washington and physically having the album in my grubby little hands for weeks now, long before any of you. And I can tell you this is one [...]

There is no scientific methodology to picking the best of album of 2011. Every year it does not seem like any good music is on the horizon then the music that matters start to tickle our ears. We go with the gut check versus a pedantic drivel as our motto around here. Sometime music is able to surprise you on first listen -sometimes second but if it does nothing after third pass we just move on along. Other times you respect a few words someone else says and you suddenly see the light. These are the various reasons we [...]

It's always hard to nail down your favourite gigs of the year. Sometimes it's the company you keep; sometimes it's the excitement in the crowd; sometimes it's the sound that blows you away. These top 5 gigs were the cream of the crop of my gigging life in 2011. 5. the Coronas at Washington's Red Palace (Tuesday 8th March 2011) – When you play in a town for the first time, you need to endear yourself to the audience. This Irish band lit up the crowd at [...]
