Welcome back to the Rusko-mpilation, a list of some of my favourite, if often underrated, Rusko tracks. WARNING: You may want to leave the room at this point...me and your speakers have some messy business to attend to.... The first few are some of the less well-known ones from Caspa & Rusko's "Fabriclive 373, mixed, quite amazingly, in a single continuous take, due to the fact that "the sound-desk guy was going home". While they aren't all tracks produced by Rusko, they are all great examples of the dubstep sound Rusko had such a big part in [...]

Rusko, the Leeds-born dubstep producer, has brought us some of the best and most off-the-wall dubstep tracks of the last couple of years, partly because he was making them when almost nobody else was and so had the freedom to do whatever he liked, oblivious to the jeers of the liquid drum and bass massive, in stitches at the idea of half-step drums and pounding bass instead of their 180 bpm breakbeat and "space noises". He has just released "Woo Boost", yet another banger, on Caspa's Sub Soldiers label, but, though I am sure he will be bringing out [...]

I like electronic music. That's a very superhero-ey thing to like, I suppose, isn't it? I like avant-garde music in general. Cage, Stockhausen, Penderecki, Andrew Lang, Pierre Henry. Terry Riley is very good. Oh, and I've heard some interesting new music from Jamaica...a sort of hybrid between electronic music and reggae. It's a fascinating study in the new musical forms generated when a largely pre-technological culture is given access to modern recording techniques wihtout the technological preconceptions that we've allowed to accumulate, limiting our vision. It's called dub music. - Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias Nerd [...]

Been obsessed with this track ever since hearing Blackheart 's Redline Vol.2 Mixtape . The tune is an original from San Francisco's own Dub duo, NTRLD . These guys are a big part of the scene up north, drop by their myspace or check out Dubstepped.net for more SF dub news. Enjoy! NTRLD- Hallucinations (rip) [...]

pic: 8mts troy! here once again for your weekly dose of ze dubstepperz. According to Caspa's myspace page , he's going to be playing in LA tomorrow night at a joint called Smog . Since I'm your Miami correspondent and not from the region, I can't shell out any info on the event. But I'm sure you savvy bass connoisseurs can find the deets out in no time. Regardless, I have the first leaked track that has crept out for his upcoming LP. MC Dynamite spews some serious fire over Caspa's signature [...]

@ BrokenFixie turned me on to Wolfgang a while back. Chances are you have herd of him, he has been producing some awesome tracks like flashback and the 5th symphony remix. A few days ago (8/18/2009) Wolfgang Gartner dropped some new tracks on beatport. I grabbed both as quick as I could, and gave them a listen. The first track 'Fire Power' was GOOD but I was not super crazy about it. Unfortunately Mr. Gartner has set himself up with a very high water mark in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I LOVE heavy, fast, sawtooth, [...]

If you couldn't get enough of this rudeboy from Babylon vol.1, well he's back again with a re-release of 'Cockney Thug,' and a special bonus remix from Sub Soldier, Caspa . The fix turns 'Cockney Thug' into a hell-raising, face melting, dirty tune. Rusko- Cockney Thug (Caspa Remix) Download audio file (02-Cockney-Thug-Caspa-Remix.m p3) [...]

Gangster's Anthem -Terror Fabulous So we've finally gotten together on a rusko post finally. He's been blogged to death, but he deserves a quality post. There was tons and tons of buzz floating around the intranet for a while. It's died down a bit but its time to chime in a bit. Rusko has been dropping dubstep for a number of years now. He's put out a bunch of great stuff with Caspa . Additionally he's worked with the likes of switch , diplo , drop [...]

Call this an official request: I'd like for someone on that upper end to go ahead and make me a little page. This page, ultimately, will be my little column. In my imagination, I fill it with my ideas and comments on popular culture, I trash talk, rant, and curse the things I find distasteful. In my imagination, I smile and wax poetic; on and on about songs and ideas that best my expectations and send shivers wiggling warm and fuzzy in this, my little column. If you guys ever get me a column, I’ve chosen a name. [...]
