I agree with my parter on the left coast's sentiments -- there just aint much going on in the show queue this week. It might be worthwhile to check out local faves The Muggabears with Boston's Explosions in the Sky sound-alikes Caspian at Grand Central Bar. The only other show on the radar this week is an all-ages affair at Williamsburg's quasi-legal hipster hangout Death By Audio featuring Tournament , who were "enjoyable" but "unmemorable" the first (and last) time I saw them . Listening to their [...]

My intention was to make this a big post, just like the albums post I made last week, but I've been a combination of really busy with this new jibby job of mine and a bit lazy too. So, here we are over a week after I said I'd put this up and I'm just now doing it. Eh, in the immortal words of Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein, "Could be worse, it could be raining". So, without further ado, here's my 28 favorite songs of the year in no order whatsoever. Why 28? [...]

Today is the beginning of my year end wrap up. I'll have some more lists this week, including my songs of the year post. Before I get to the list, I just want to say that I can't remember a year in which as much great music was released as this one. I initially set out to do a list of my ten favorite albums this year but that soon became impossible, then it was 15, then 20, and finally i settled on 25. Truth be told, i probably could have made a top 50, but [...]

"Caspian is a rock band from Beverly, Massachusetts, a seaside town 20 minutes north of Boston. Nobody sings. Most of the time, we play very loud. Sometimes, very soft. We always try to play with heart. So far we have recorded two albums. We want to play live as much as we are capable. The process is always evolving. Thanks for exploring it with us", so stellen Caspian sich selbst vor und es bleibt eigentlich nicht viel hinzufügen. Wer Mogwai, Jesu, Explosions in the Sky, Mono, God is an Astronaut und all deren Epigonen liebt, der wird auch diese Band [...]
"Caspian is an instrumental rock band from Beverly, Massachusetts. The band formed in Autumn of 2003 and played their first concert in August of 2004. Characterized by towering walls of sound, oceanic guitar work, and vicious rhythmic elements, Caspian is a band that has gained widespread attention for the multi-dimensional emotionality of their recorded catalogue, a blistering live show and a commitment to national touring within the United States. After releasing their debut EP "You Are The Conductor" (Dopamine, 2005) to critical applause, the band spent most of 2006 touring The United States and Canada and writing their debut full-length [...]

It's a big week for the boys in the Beverly-based band Caspian, as their long-awaited first full-length, "The Four Trees", officially arrives this Tuesday. To mark the release, the guys will be on WFNX tonight, appearing on the weekly New England Product program at 10pm, and will be hanging out at River Gods in Cambridge tomorrow night for an album listening party (and playing some of their owns
I'm sorry, but this will be the last scheduled post for some time, since I don't plan on having a free night again at least until next Monday, so I really won't have time to do any more posting. Work has been crazy busy recently, so I don't think I'll get anything done there, and I'm trying to finish up a major paper on racism for my class, due a week from today. I am listening to some pretty great music, though, and here's some of it before I go. See all you Vague Spacers [...]

The Boston based band Caspian is set to release their second album The Four Trees come April 10th. I'll admit I hadn't heard much from Caspian before this. I had seen many positive reviews about them spread across the good 'ol Internet, but never really bothered to take a long hard listen to them because they fall into one of the most hit or miss genre's for me, post-rock. It's frustrating to wade through all of the imitators and average groups that try their hand [...]

It just never ends. Most towns have the good shows reserved for Thursday through Sunday. Not Austin! Everyday of the week has something worth while, so get out there and check 'em out! Jenny Lewis Monday is slow, as it should be, so check out Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins at Stubb's for a laid back show featuring great harmonies and jangly guitar pop. Things pick up a bit on Tuesday [...]
we are about to roll over a thousand visitors since switching over to this dedicated url from the old blogger site - so thanks! kansas city has some really interesting shows coming up over the course of the next few weeks, mostly at the record bar . the first one up is this sunday with califone . i know there is a mixed reaction to the youtube-ing of the internet, but califone is one band who use it to their advantage, and so i'm going to post this live video of their song [...]
